    Hailea HC-500A waterchiller controller

    Hello guys,

I have this good Hailea HC-500A waterchiller:

    Here is some specs:

Here is the "face" of the controller:

    Manual:

    http://images.bit-tech.net/content_i...500amanual.jpg

    It's a 1/2 HP compressor, 790W of cooling capacity.

It can chill down the water to a lower 3°C.

Is there any way that I can "cheat" the controller to reach sub-zero temps?? About -3° to -5°C is just fine.

Just jump it out and add your ETC type controller and your set.

If you do not want to change the temp micro controller then try to find out where its sensor placement is and perhaps move or slightly insulate the temp sensor.

I opened the front of the chiller yesterday and find out the controller connections. There are only 2 cables.

I will try to find out a compatible ETC controller. If I can't, so I'll try to find the sensor and insulate it.~

    Thank you BTW.

It uses two wires for the circuit which is in series with the comp starter, you can use any micro type controller with the same op voltage. The ETC I mentioned before can run on any voltage from 24 -230v single phase power and can hold a one degree dif.

Got one of these coming next week ivybridge is so hot hoping these will be better for temps. Hoping to turn it down to lowest setting 4c and use Armaflex sheet and tubing.

They work well though much care on insulating is required. The 500A or better should do Ivy pretty good.

Then don't set the chiller sub ambient?

It has a temp control, set it to 15c or something and you should be set.

Thats not it, I just want a chiller that can handle my system.

I'm wondering if just 1/4hp would be sufficient for my needs?

    Are your components heavily overclocked?
I would get the 1/2hp 500A, I heard the higher models are quieter too.

790w cooling capacity (maybe a little overrated), figure in 150-200w for CPU if overclocked, 200w for each GPU and you are getting near limit. Heatload is usually a bit less than power consumed.

I don't think this HC-500A can handle you system, mele, for a CPU + 3x 480 the chiller would have to be turned on all the time, your energy bill will go sky high and you won't be able to overclock your system because it would be over the chiller's capacity.

I will need the HC-1000A version, 1 HP and 1580w cooling capacity: http://www.hailea.com/e-hailea/product1/HC-1000A.htm

I still looking for the controller BTW.

I would have to agree that the HC500A will be sucking wind on a loop containing three 480GTX cards and an Ivy chip all clocked up. You might want the 1000A at that point and they are not exactly quiet at full load.

I think it would cool my current system of two GTX 480 and a 9650 more than water alone. Plus I have to have a window AC running full time now so....

    What ya think.
