    Is it because your sticks are samples or is it G.Skill's new policy to no longer put any info about ICs on their sticks? Usually digits 5 to 8 of the part number gave you a hint about which ICs are used but on your sticks there are just four 0s. Junior's TridentX 2400 kit is marked 0240 on the other hand.

    Keep up the good work, I'm looking forward to the full review.

    They have just requested we (well I, and presumably the other reviewers as well) not show the ICs. They did the same with their 16GB RipjawsZ and 32GB RipjawsX kits. I've heard rumors at the bot that the chips in this kit are Samsung, but to resist my inherent temptation to tell what I know, I am simply not removing the heatspreaders. You can't tell what you don't know.

    I understand, but that's not what I mean. Take a look at some of these links, taken from the first page of the Xtreme Bandwidth section, and check out the part number:

    RipjawsX 12110340152383
    RipjawsZ 12110340189935
    TridentX 12150240115365
    RipjawsX 11080640095371

    Sniper sticks with Hynix chips were also marked 0240 and my old (original) Trident sticks with Elpida BBSE chips are marked 0640. On your sticks it just says 0000. I'm just wondering if this was done on purpose or if it's because your sticks were samples directly from G.Skill. I liked that G.Skill was giving you an idea of what you bought even without removing the HS just like Corsair does with their rev numbers.

    0140 = Micron
    0000 = Hynix
    0240 = Hynix
    0360 = Samsung
    0640 = Elpida non-Hyper
    0650 = Elpida (seen on blue PCB Tridents)
    0660 = Elpida non-Hyper
    0690 = Elpida Hyper
    1040 = PSC
    1240 = Nanya (?)

    Is this what you mean?

    Where's Hiwa when you need him ( prolly in some Persian restaurant again :p )
    Won't do it. At least at 1.75vDIMM. That's all I had time to try, but it wouldn't even boot there. It would boot and run at 2800 / 10-13-13-35 1T (only changing the CL) but wouldn't pass SP32M with those settings. There is more playing to be had of course, but testing your settings was all I had time for.

    I guess 2400s and 2666s use different chips? Or is it just binning?

    Yes, this is what I mean, though I have only seen 0640 and 1040 ( and 0240 once ) personally. This is Tapakah's list, isn't it? He has tested quite a lot of kits for this collection, but he's missing 0340 for Samsung as seen on some of the kits I linked.

    Buy a kit, open it up, make a picture and throw it online.

    Mystery solved.

    I think I hit the IMC limit on this chip. Cant exceed 2800 even if I loosen to 12-14-14 2T.

    I'm sorry to hear that; it seems rare on these things. Maybe more cold would help?

    Cold helps a bit but not a ton. Can you push further than 11-13-13 limit with 12-14-14?
