I had many cold boot issues, so I am here to let you guys know that after i updated my BIOS to 1.60 and left ALL overlock options ON (i mean those C stats, speedstep and so), basically the only thing I have changed was the offset voltage, all my problems are gone. I have been working @ 4.7ghz, not one single blue screen, crash, coold boot or any other issue.

    Everything is perfect now

    BTW, I have a z77 extreme 4 board and a 2500k CPU.

    EDIT:

WOW just saw it now... http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.as...xtreme4&o=BIOS
where are the 1.5 and 1.6 versions?
that really does not look good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been running the 1.6, any one got the 1.7?

    PCIE gen2 option not available

    Hi all,

There is no option for PCIE express gen2 option under PCIE speed selection for my graphics card. Bios issue? (Running version 1.4)
The reason I wanted to run on PCIE2 link speed is because I am getting random BSOD.
    Please help, thanks.

Gen2 is automatically used when a card is detected that uses it. To really help any further lots more details about the BSOD is needed such as the stop error code.

I'm went from UEFI BIOS V1.30 to V1.70 several days ago to test the Asmedia USB issue I reported earlier in this thread. The freezing issue seems to be resolved with the new BIOS.

However...I've had a lot of system instability since the update. I think they've made some changes to the LLC curves and possibly some other minor touches to the voltage controls somewhere along the way. Basically, my old overclock settings are no longer stable so I have to start again from scratch.. kinda frustrating.

Power saving mode disabled in the Etron USB 3.0 drivers

Ket, could you ask your contacts why Power Saving Mode has been disabled in the Etron USB 3.0 drivers? Now I have to disable the Etron USB 3.0 chip from BIOS if I want to properly hibernate my system. See driver inf file:

    Code:
    [POWER.AddReg]
    HKR,,PowerSavingMode, 0x00010001, 0
It is annoying that Etron removes features from the product without any notice.

The problem was that my PC would completely freeze whenever I plugged in a USB flash disk or USB hard drive into one of the two USB3.0 ports next to the PS/2 socket. Attempting to boot windows would always freeze at the Windows logo with a drive plugged into these ports. I believe the issue could be related to Win7SP1, since previously I had installed it only as a hotfix (which interestingly is known to have issues properly upgrading the USB drivers), but this time went straight for an SP1 integrated ISO to save time.

There are a few reports of this issue floating around the web (I did a google search) so I thought I'd post a work-around I've found:

    1. Enter the UEFI BIOS and find the USB settings
    2. Disable the USB 3.0 Legacy support
    3. Save and exit

    Problem solved, no more freezing

    [Edit]
Have installed all Windows updates to my new SP1 installation, and even found a newer version of the ASMedia 1042 USB 3.0 driver (since I've confirmed that's the culprit) but the issue persists when Legacy support is enabled.. so the above solution seems to be the only way to remedy this issue for now.
What USB flash disks and HDDs are you using and/or tried? When I know that I can get the issue looked at.

That is really weird I have no idea why Etron would do that. Re-enable it in the INF then reinstall the driver and your good to go again.

I've already said this was resolved in V1.70 (see post #157), though I'm having issues with overclocking stability since the upgrade so I might go back to V1.30. For the record every USB storage device in the house caused the problem, but if you need specifics one was definitely a Seagate 1TB GoFlex USB3.0 drive, and another was a Sandisk Cruze 4GB USB2.0 drive.

    Hi all,

    I am almost buying a Z77 Extreme4 and I already have 4x4GB Samsung 30nm 1600MHz sticks.
Is there someone using 4xSamsung sticks? What speed they are running? Is it possible to get 2200MHz or 2400MHz on this board?

    Thanks!

If using a SB CPU maximum divider is 2133 plus whatever you can squeeze out of the BCLK. Higher dividers are available when you install a IB CPU.

    Hey guys, im running on Asrock Z77 Extreme4 and 2500k with gskill 2x4 1333 cl7 1.5v sticks.

No problem overclocking 4.5ghz 2500k and 1600 cl8 1.55v, but im getting too much blue screens or freezings issues during on desktop, internet surfing or listening to music. But theres no problem with gaming or stabilty tests.

    Bios version is 1.6

I'm thinking maybe my ram sticks are dead?

Revert everything to stock and test for stability problems. Either you are pushing something too far or you aren't giving something enough voltage.

Were those kits able to run CAS7 @ 2133 on other P67 and Z68 boards? If so, what were the settings and voltages?

I can't remember the model of the kit off the top of my head, its a pretty old DDR3 kit though I've had the kit a few years. Good kit though, that 2133 comes at 1.65v with 7-7-7-25 1T/N timings if I remember right.

I think the same, but with 2600k you don't get last enthusiast feature like PCI 3.0, cpu optimizations, quick sync 2.0 (more, more fast encoding).
It's some bad vs some bad choice...

You think that you can get more MHz with Extreme6 vs Extreme4? I think at MOSFET heatsink. Under the plastic, seem the same... or not?

    Fantastic! Default was 1.5v?

Just got the board, havent tried anything but the stock bios yet. 1.3, I am having the same issue with memory no cas 6 on this board period. Another one of "my" concerns is that the cpu vcore only goes up to 1.7 and the ddr3 voltage only goes up to 1.8 that being said the board had no problem maxing out my sb cpu and ram (other than timings) was running 5.4ghz with 2270 ram @7-10-6-27-1t within minutes. My first take is as far as budget boards go im not sure if you can do better than this @89$ . As far as an overclocking board im not sure its a step up from any decent p67/z68 board ive used. Ill let you know how ivy does vs. p67 in a few days.
Forgot to mention I know not many people even use these anymore but the driver cd the board came with is TERRIBLE. I had to scan the cds folders to even find axtu on there. I also cannot get axtu to work in windows xp but that may be a diffrent issue.

oh yea I have asrock extreme4

This board seems to have a problem with low latency. Tried 1.8 BIOS and is the same. Can't run the tight timings that even p8p67 would run. Other than that and the stingy voltages this board is pretty good. Got ram running at 2800mhz but timings are doodoo past 2300mhz or so. Also latest version of asrock extreme tuner will not change bclk for me only voltage and multi.
