As I said many eons ago the Etron 1.101 driver fixed all BSOD issues I was aware of, which again as I have repeatedly said, start with the Etron 1.101 driver if you are having issues. I will test on the Z77 when I get some time but I have a lot to catch up on over the weekend.

    Thanks Ket.

Can you please tell your contacts at Asrock that Etron USB 3.0 still causes BSOD with Turtle Beach Ear Force PX21 headphones, just by plugging them into the Etron USB 3.0, you get a BSOD.
On a side note, this thread is about "Asrock Z77 Extreme4 & Extreme6. Report issues, overclocks, and related stuff here!" I am doing exactly that, report non resolved issues about Asrock Z77 Extreme6.
You have asked me to stick with one thread. OK, I will stick with this one.

Report issues yes, but the issues with the EJ168A controller are old issues well documented now, and theres only so much myself and Asrock can do to try and make things right. The rest is up to Etron.... *tumbleweed rolls by* On a more related note now a large part of my health issues and family issues have been resolved I am in the process of submitting my first report to my contacts of bugs that have come to light. Once I know some info on them I shall let you all know. One of my contacts I speak to the most won't be available for a while though so it might take a little time to hear anything back. In the meantime I'll let my other contacts know and see what they can come up with.

Seperate post so I can edit in anything I might of missed.

Reported issues to my contacts are as follows:

    POST lag with USB storage devices connected to the USB ports;

User Report: System hard locks and loses display, shuts down or BSODs with 2x Sapphire HD7870s. Cards have been tested in another system, no issues.

User Report: A lot of CAS 7 RAM will not boot @ CAS 7, only CAS 8.

User Report: Plugging in USB flash disks or USB HDDs into the back USB 3.0 ports next to the PS/2 socket causes Windows to freeze at the boot logo. Updating the ASMedia 1042 driver does not help.

Workaround: Disable legacy USB 3.0 support.

When installing a Asus Xonar DX into the top PCI-E slot at random after boot you can be greeted with VERY fuzzy audio or no audio at all.

Workarounds: Move the Xonar to the bottom PCI-E slot, or restart the system.

User Report: Plugging in Turtle Beach Ear Force PX21 headphones into the Etron USB3 ports causes instant BSOD. - Bat, what Etron driver was being used when this happened?

1.109 always was a bit flaky, the latest Etron driver will be worth a shot but I don't think everything is going to get resolved. Probably easier to just plug it into a front USB2 port.

This is not acceptable. The problem is that the spec. clearly states support for USB 1 and USB 2.0 devices:
    - 2 x Rear USB 3.0 ports by Etron EJ168A, support USB 1.0/2.0/3.0 up to 5Gb/s
Asrock must comply with its own specification.

That is not Asrocks specification, it is Etrons specification. Ergo, it is up to them to resolve issues they are made aware of. I have offered a alternative that is in no way inconvenient, use the alternative or don't. It is entirely up to you.

The problem was that my PC would completely freeze whenever I plugged in a USB flash disk or USB hard drive into one of the two USB3.0 ports next to the PS/2 socket. Attempting to boot windows would always freeze at the Windows logo with a drive plugged into these ports. I believe the issue could be related to Win7SP1, since previously I had installed it only as a hotfix (which interestingly is known to have issues properly upgrading the USB drivers), but this time went straight for an SP1 integrated ISO to save time.

There are a few reports of this issue floating around the web (I did a google search) so I thought I'd post a work-around I've found:

    1. Enter the UEFI BIOS and find the USB settings
    2. Disable the USB 3.0 Legacy support
    3. Save and exit

    Problem solved, no more freezing

    [Edit]
Have installed all Windows updates to my new SP1 installation, and even found a newer version of the ASMedia 1042 USB 3.0 driver (since I've confirmed that's the culprit) but the issue persists when Legacy support is enabled.. so the above solution seems to be the only way to remedy this issue for now.
Is your Windows install on a GPT disk instead of MBR?

http://min.us/mHQpYjZQb/3 - screens from my UEFI

Why I have the speed and timings other than the standard ? I set to 1600 MHz, but are still on 1333MHZ and motherboard will not boot normally.

    How do I fix this?

Load UEFI defaults, save and exit. Now enter the UEFI again and set timings, speed and voltage manually. Do not use the XMP profile. See if that works.

    Ok, I I set CAS Latency 7-8-7-24-2N.
It remains only to 1333. I do not understand why the memory does not work on standard setting. When I change the DRAM Frequency 1600 MHz from 1333MHZ, my Extreme4 has done several times a restart and show error message: "The system failed to boot several times before.
You may press F2 or DEL to enter SETUP to reconfigure your system
or UEFI will continue to boot after X seconds...".

Clock remains the same - 1333MHZ with "DRAM Frequency 1600"....:|

    My UEFI version - 1.60

Try running memtest on the sticks individually @ 1600, then in pairs, then all of them. The problem could be you have a bad stick of RAM. Failing that it might be where the RAM simply isn't compatible with the board, from memory, I don't recall seeing the G.Skill ECO memory on the QVL list, I would suspect a bad RAM stick above all else though.

I have the Extreme6 ASrock board (flashed to the latest UEFI) and have this issue with ASMedia SATA III port. apologies in advance if this has been discussed here before (but the search function did not return any hits).

If i connect my Kingston HyperX 90GB SSD (the new 3K model) to the ASMedia SATA III port the max. Seq. read speed i get is ~350; while connecting it to the Intel PCH SATA III port the speed bumps to 480, which is closer to its rated speed. Both ports are set to ACHI in the UEFI and the drive is recognized to be connected to a SATA III interface on both ASMEdia and Intel controllers.

Is this a known fact or am i doing something wrong

    thanks in advance.

PS: using the latest ASMedia drivers (1.3.4 i think)
    Sys specs:
    RIG 1: Ci7-920 @3.64Ghz || Asus R-II-Gene || XFX 4870-1GB [820/900] || 3 GB DDR3-1600 Corsair Dominator || || Corsair HX620 || CM Stacker 830 nV ed.

    RIG 2: Intel E5200 || Intel DP35DP || 4 GB DDR2 RAM

3rd party controllers usually don't give as good performance vs. native controllers (additional latencies, possibly having to share resources etc) so your speeds could well be about right. I'll pass it on to my contacts though in case theres a way they can improve the performance, perhaps by updating the module responsible for holding the firmware for that controller.

    No memory errors in memtest.
Strange, because ECO are compatible with the motherboard (info from manufacturer's website).

Does anyone know of a online filehoast that doesn't delete stuff on free accounts? Preferably somewhere that will allow me to organise the files I upload. If anyone does let me know I'll then be able to upload a lot of stuff so people will always have my links to fall back on.

I set higher DRAM Voltage from auto on 1.515V and XMP Profile is working I have to report it to the manufacturer, it looks to me the error in UEFI.

That sounds more like the voltage hasn't been set properly in the memory speed data. Auto setting will look at what the speed data has programmed and use those values.

Yes but they should work at 1.35v not at 1.51v...
Eco if i remember right aren't some Elpida BBSE chips.
Asrock motheboards( P67 PRO3 in my case) don't get along so good with Elpida BBSE or Hyper.

My point is the auto setting only reads the information stored on the memory modules themselves so its probably more something that needs correcting in the speed data stored on the memory modules. If that data is correct though, then it might be a UEFI issue that needs looking at. I say might because having to raise the memory voltage suggests a bad memory stick. It'll be worth running CPU-Z, clicking the "SPD" tab and looking to see what voltage it says is required for 1600MHz.

Let's face it, these Asrock motherboards can't run the RAM at those settings. I had problems running a Kingston 1600 MHz kit at the rated 1600 on my Asrock motherboard. Since I have switched to Asus P8Z68-V Pro/Gen3 no problems running them on 1600 MHz. Why I can use them at the same settings on the Asus and not on the Asrock?
Asrock uses cheaper components, that is why the Asrock motherboard it is cheaper.

Ket, did you get your Asrock Z77 Extreme6 for free, or this time you had to buy it? No more free motherboards from Asrock?

All mainboards will have memory compatibilty problems if you don't use the right settings or just buy a kit willy-nilly without checking the kit is actually compatible with your board. I have a 8GB kit of G.Skill Ripjaws rated for 1600 that happily run 1866, a 4GB kit of G.Skill Ripjaws rated for 1600 that happily do 2133, and a kit of Vengeance memory which while they suck at OCing do run their rated speed of 1866 without any problems on the Z77 I have. I suggest you stop trying to troll.
