Valve | Some good news, and some very bad news from hell.

First the good news. Do you remember this? It seems they are still working on it.
Valve is looking for hardware engineers.
That's interesting, a Valve console or HTPC would be cool. Would be cool, unless they pick the wrong partner...

    Now the bad news.
Apple CEO Tim Cook Visits Headquarters of Video Game Firm Valve

It doesn't mean anything per se but it's scary anyway.

I'm not sure why valve making a console would be good news for anyone but Valve. It just means PCs will have another console port. AS for apple, well they're probably interested in partnership in making games.

that apple rumor is total bs in case you couldnt figure it out. even if tim cook wanted to buy valve tomorrow with cash, he still wouldnt be the one waltzing in the front door.

I was thinking more along the lines of a partnership on this upcoming creation...

Cause if its 1 thing Apple doesnt know how to do, its make hardware?
I dont get the issue here.

Not that I think that would be why Apple was there, but in a console where you cant change parts anyways I think Apple would be a pretty solid choice. Way better then any of the other premade PC companies.

Can we get a title change? I think it's interesting that valve might be serious about the whole console thing, but this seriously isn't that big of a deal even if apple does get involved on the software side. No one in the world is Jobs. You would be hard pressed to come up with 5 people who can reproduce what he did. With that being said, apple does have the infrastructure to really push forward such a console by hosting the games on their cloud servers. As popular as steam is Apple dwarfs it no question.

You're assuming that the potential Steam box would be anything but a mid-tier PC in a small shiny case. I find that very unlikely.

Apple makes hardware? Or Apple makes cases with standard hardware and sells it for twice the normal retail value?

Apple makes some fellow forum members develop blisters in places where they are specially uncomfortable... Just the mention of the name increases hostility levels by several orders of magnitude.

I've seen raging haemorrhoids have a lower impact on people's general grumpiness...

And generally speaking I'm utterly unexcited about anything console-related... It seems to be a good source of revenue for game publishers, that extra revenue however doesn't seem to translate into more great games being produced, just in bigger profits for the aforementioned and their shareholders and more console-to-PC ports that are generally a great disappointment...

    No one read my link...

Valve wants to investigate wearable hardware. They aren't planning on actually making anything yet, just researching it.

Don't you think that if he was actually religious, he wouldn't be "disrespecting the lord" by using the screen name The Jesus and having an avatar of Jesus chilling?

Well, you know, father/son relationships tend to be complicated, specially if the father is a very famous authoritarian figure whose word is taken as Gospel and the son is a bit of a rebel

    I don't doubt this.
    Both companies suck .

Makes sense to me, people love apple crap, and they love steam crap, perfect.
