People are asking how to install Lucid MVP, b/c they can't get it to install easily, here is what I did:

#1 Go into the BIOS and switch Init Display First to IGFX, and make sure iGPU is enabled.
#2 change from my GPU as monitor output to motherboard's video out
#3 go into windows, and then install the Intel VGA drivers off GIGABYTE's website
#4 Make sure my NVIDIA drivers were installed
    #5 Install MVP and TaDa

I would greatly appreciate if someone could be very specific about the fan control to fill in the missing gaps in my understanding.

On the UD3H and UD5H (I would imagine these are the two boards people will consider the most) there are 5 fan headers, 1 of those for the CPU. The manual shows them as all being 4 pin (PWM) fans, which are able to take a 4 or 3 pin connection.

There are controls within the BIOS listed in the manual where we could select a default of normal or silent, additionally we can define slope PWM.

    The questions I have are..

Is it limited to manual control for PWM fans only - in other words would I have to dump the 140mm fans I have already and replace them with PWM.

It mentions fan control for 1/2/3 fans and the CPU. I can manage with just 3 case fans controlled in this way, however is there just one control for all 3 or are there 3 separate controls?

setting fan control mode to "voltage" instead of "PWM" is meant for 3-pin fans. then you can use smart fan with 3-pin. I know this is how it is for CPU, iw ill test and see if doing this also makes it happen for the 1-4 system fan headers.

Thanks, Sin. I'd like to go Gigabyte this time around, but with Asus I know what I'm getting with fans... I just looked at the cost of replacing fans with PWM and it's quite a fair amount.

Waiting on an SSD and GTX 680 which will arrive on Monday then will be setting up, will use my nice clocking 2500K first then switch to Ivybridge on the 29th.

I hope this works well on the Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H, tempted to get 32GB Ram!

I put together a new system with the UD5H and I cannot get any sound output whatsoever. Anyone else have issues with sound? I'm guessing it's a bad board but figured I'd check.

Update: I found that the motherboard thinks there is something plugged into the front panel audio even when there isn't. Even if there is no front panel audio connected to the motherboard it still shows the port as connected. So the only way to get audio out of the speakers is to configure the sound card to play two audio streams at all times. Pretty crappy... might be sending this one back.

yea i think you should RMA, i haven't heard of that.

Anyways the latest BIOS that just released, F6I for the UD5H solves teh issues with the 2600K including the looping before booting and the OC failed. Also solves the gaming mouse issues.

new BETA were released today for all boards which should fixes issues.

Did you ever get around to doing this? The cost of changing the fans is prohibitive, so I'd have to go with a board that'd control them on 3 pins... Asus boards are capable, but I'd like to try a Gigabyte board for a change.

Picked up my Z77X-UD5H today, have seen some good things with it online and decided to jump in. Waiting on getting hold of an Ivy CPU now, definitely looking forward to taking it for a spin on water, then LN2. Also have some Team Xtreem 2400 C9 ram on the way. Can't wait to see how the combo plays together.

I'm having an issue with hdd's randomly dropping out. I had a drive in a hotswap bay disappear and I wasn't able to get it to show up in the OS until I moved it from one SATA port to another. I had another in a windows based mirror disappear then reappear in a failed redundancy state and I wasn't able to import it back into the array. I also have the Bluray drive set to use drive letter Z: but after about 20 minutes it will move to the next available drive letter.
I haven't RMA'd yet and I'm still on BIOS F4. At this point I don't think a BIOS update will fix these issues and I might just be stuck with the RMA option. Just wanted to check to see if anyone else saw similar behavior.

you are at BIOS F4, so you didn't want to jump up 2 BIOS families to F6I? IMO you should b/c that updates Intel's RAID ROMs and such. There are a lot of XHCI settings, you might want to check them. The SATA control is the chipset after all. Also if you use port SATA5 that port and the mSATA port switch between each other so the mSATA doesn't take up a whole PCI-E lane. You should at least update the BIOS that is what GB is going to tell you to do.

hey man play with LN2 is very fun with these boards.

Correction... I was actually on F5. I didn't really want to Flash a beta BIOS since this is my stable system. I flashed it anyway but I also moved my data drives (which are 2 2tb mirrored and 2 640gb mirrored to the Intel SataII ports. I had the 2 640gb on the GSATAIII ports.

I moved my hot swap bay to the first GSATAIII port and my DVD to the isolated GSATAIII port on the bottom of the board. Now the DVD drive doesn't show up.

There appears to be 9 usable internal SATA ports as long as the mSATA port isn't used. 5 sata III and 4 sata II. Is that not correct?
