Asus Locked Retail 3570k ? E1 OEM Tray stepping locked at 34x max multi

I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY F BOMBS I DROPPED!!!

I've updated my Asus P8P67 to the latest bios 2303 that supported Ivy Bridge 2 revisions ago.

The bios or the chip will not let me go over 34x multi (16-34), effectively 36x with turbo.

This is the retail E1 tray stepping.

did you disable turbo? IDk i clocked fine(much better than most) with a 3770K E1, so the final retail stepping is E1? BTw there is no such thing as a locked K sku.

i disabled turbo, C1E, eist, C3/C6 but that was on a gigabyte z77 board. I willt ry my Z68 boards see if i have teh same issue.

CPUs not officially on sale. 3*** build will offer full support. Earlier build had full support of the stepping that was out at the time it was released.

2303 runs Prime95 fine (albeit at stock).

Actually I have a MIVE Gene-Z on the shelf next to a Vertex 3.
Just a pain doing a new build but might have to be the case...

i5-3570k : not bad but a little disappointed...

My retail E1 chip is like the Tweaktown 3570k - no dice above 4.6ghz - up to 1.36v and still not stable at 4.7ghz.

However, the sweet spot seems a decent 4.6ghz at 1.3v, load temps low 80's.

So far, not bad but a little disappointed.

Not a bad chip at all but doesn't clock as high as my 4.8ghz 2500k and 2600k AND runs at higher temps.

Still Prime95'ing...

Yeah for prime95, yes.
It seems to correlate to the 2500k distribution - the vast majority of midrange 2500k's that hit a ceiling at 4.6ghz.
Just that the heat is substantially more for the extra 4-10% performance boost over a 2500k...

Tese Ivy seems to "burn" alot with over 1.3v, trigate ist all that good for now ( stepping e1 )

3770k L206B314 P95 x64 stability testing on an Asus P8P67 Vanilla Bios 3207, air-cooled on a Venomous-X with 2x Enermax Magma 120mm fans:

4.7ghz @ 1.328v: ouch, kinda getting a little too toasty so stopped after 30min:

4.6ghz @ 1.276v after 1 hr: idles at .96v and 1600mhz - not too hot and not too slow - this is going to be my Goldilocks setting
