I normally use Win7 backup utility if I have a HDD in the PC that I can temporarily store the backup on. Otherwise I use gparted to copy the partitions over.

There are lots of alternatives though, Clonezilla, Acronis True Image, Norton Ghost, DriveImageXML, the list goes on.

I normally use imagex for cloning at home. Free and reliable. Just back up to another drive, then partition and restore onto the new drive in winpe.

If you have any WD drives download The Acronis WD edition, It's free and by far the easiest to use.
I used it to clone my Raid0 465GB WD hard drives to my Corsair Force 3 240GB SSD. Worked great even on different size drives!

Acronis, and it also haas a Plus Pack that will slip in drivers to allow installs to dissimilar equipment (mobos, raid cards, etc) so it is a must for me
