I really like my RIVE, only X79 I have owned so that is pretty biased. No budget? Custom water.

I agree, Asus ROG boards are by far the best I've used. I'm sure others have great boards, but if there's no budget, that's my choice.

16GB is plenty for anytime soon. The only applications that really use more than 4GB are Adobe and rendering software. Games have no need for more than 4 or 8GB.

Which water cooling kit? 4.5 isn't too hard to achieve nowadays, but you need adequate cooling.

    That should be plenty then.

SATA3 performance is all based on the SSD as long as it isn't a Marvell controller on the mobo (X79 uses an Intel controller I believe). So it'll be maxed.

AsRock isn't bad. I've never personally used them and I don't recommend anything I haven't used.

+1 for the R4E if you arent on a budget. For a bit less you could go with the Formula.

I'd go for the R4E as well if your budget allows.

I decided to go with a Rampage IV Gene to pair with my 3930K as I don't need anything more than SLI (currently have (2) N560GTX Ti's) and will be selling them shortly for a single 680 GTX so I saw no reason to go with the Formula or Extreme. Have everything installed, just waiting for my new waterblock as I had a M4E before so I don't have any mounting for socket 2011.

Can't wait to see how this Gene overclocks compared to the Extreme. Can't seem to find any dedicated threads to the Rampage IV Gene. I upgrade from MIVE, 2600k @ 5Ghz, SLI 560GTX Ti, 8GB G.Skill to this RIVG, 3930k and 16GB G.Skill to improve video encoding time as I don't really game (havent in a while). Rampage IV Extreme and 3930K seems to be overkill for a strictly gaming PC but thats just me. If money is no issue why not.

I am totally biased, but in my opinion Asus has the upper hand in the X79 market as far as stability, overclocking, and feature set. Support is solid with Asus reps on the ROG forums and around most of the bigger OC forums as well. I would recommend the Rampage IV Extreme, Formula, or Gene depending on budget, PCIE needs for CF/SLI, and extent of planned overclocking (mild to hardcore).
