Any chance getting AM3+ support with this board ??

Just notice Biostar have a new AM3+ 880G board out there
    http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/...n.php?S_ID=555

It look just the same as the old Biostar A880G+ (darn it , same AM3 Socket too !)
Sound chip is the same , the Ethernet is the same Realtek (the newer one have upgraded chip from 8111DL-> 8111E)
Only different is , the "newer" one support AM3+ CPU and got SB850

I tried read the new board BIOS by a EPROM reader and it said its 2MB EPROM and cannot write to the A880G+ BIOS (as it's 1MB)
Since two board is striking similar, is that any possibility to get the BIOS modded and get un-official support with AM3+ ?
    Thanks

You mean the A880G (no +) right?

Even still, the motherboard layout is different. Even if you put a bios chip from the A880GZ into any of the other 880 chipset boards I don't think it would work.

The only possible way would be to manually rip the cpu support code (agesa?) from the am3+ mobos bios and inject it into the old am3 mobos bios. It is alot harder than it sounds to do and has a very high chance of not working and bricking the old mobo. Personally I dont think it would work because the cpu code on the am3+ is alot larger because it has to support alot more cpu's hence why the new mobo has a 2mb bios. You basically need a bios guru to have a chance of pulling it off. Good luck!

If the board is exactly the same except by the 2MB bios, can be possible to swap the bios chip. My only concern is about the VRM specs to support Bulldozer.

Looked into this a while back. All the 8xx boards i looked at that supported BD at the time had some weird bios stuff going on, which pretty much made it impossible to extract the good stuff and use in modded bioses. Wouldnt surprise me if its the same with these boards.

Yes, I tried that as well, but it was impossible for me. The code is located into different places and simple module extract/replace can't be done.
And it's not only a matter of AGESA code...
Besides that, I'm not a very good modder (have done NF7/AN7 bios mods) and this stuff is beyond my skills.
Not sure if anyone could do it wihout the original source code.
