I've been waiting the last few days for a news article with that title, but it hasn't come yet.
How can AMD keep the 7900 at the same price when its biggest competition is faster and cheaper?

the retailers will get angry if they drop the price without rebating them and if they do it within 15-30 days of launch as most resales will match prices while the card could be returned. there is also no supply of 680s so right now amd will just ship discounted parts to OEMs and the DIY/retail market will get the cards at ~$450 next month.
i am also expecting a good 20-40% improvement with the amd part as they make better drivers, look at the last beta for 12.4 it added 12-20% across the board so the cards should be close and priced closely in the end of a month or 2.

I agree, but imo both 680gtx & 7970 should be ~ 380€ mark not 470-520€ compared to last gen high-end, only 25% faster is so so.. where is that 50%+ boost like back in the old days AMD &NV? :P
Speaking of pricing 7970 its 2x stronger in direct compute, overclocks better, has 3gb, so its kinda worth extra.. Imo we will see these high prices for quite some time, 3-4months for sure.. Well unless AMD releases 7990 dual gpu or maybe single 7980 -Tenerife, then NV has to spit that mighty GK110, also 680gtx, 7970 prices drop accordingly..

the chart on the last page, what is it of? every other page looks like its dead even or slightly different, but that last chart in the conclusions is 10% different, but has no label
also the scale on it is way off. the last bar is only 1.008x that of the one above it, or .8% faster
