    Flashing vanilla evga GTX285 1GB to FTW firmware?

    I am upgrading my GTX285's to a GTX680, I want to hang onto one card to use as a dedicated physX card.

    I have a hydro copper water block, is is ok to flash the firmware from a faster card? Does evga bin these?

    They probably do bin them but more likely than not it will work fine. I think worst case scenario would be that you would have to flash it back because it was unstable...

    I flashed a stock evga gtx460 to a gtx460 ftw. Worked just fine, no issues at all.

    I believe GTX285 thats allready work on max.
    If you put in on faster clocks it may overheat and life will be much shorten

    He has a full water block on it. Over heating will not be an issue.

    True, full water block only for gpu? Or to all gpu and mosfets and memory chips too?

    i doubt its gonna be a problem

    but if it cant handle the higher clocks just flash back

    btw ftw cards are better binned than even the oc ones

    A full water block is one that covers the whole card i.e. gpu/vrm/mem etc.
    He has a EVGA hydro water block and it is a full cover water block, so it cools the whole card.

    I found the FTW BIOS for the GTX285, but couldn't find a hydro copper. Both run at the same speeds, if this fails (I doubt it will) I'll go with the SSC BIOS.
