With the previous series Gigabyte motherboards you are able to use LLC or DVID/Offset but not both at the same time.

Well take my current 2500K as an example @ 4.6GHz it only requires 1.28v to be stable, on Auto Voltage the VID is 1.41v so using DVID/Offset enables you reduce down to what you know is stable while still keeping C state power saving features.

With Load Line Calibration it enables you to compensate for V Droop so in theory your overclock should be more stable.

So now we can use both together hopefully see reduced temperatures while maintaining a high overclock and possible overclock further than previously expected.

This will be the first motherboard I will be able to use DVID/Offset, I've always had AMD rigs and the features were not implemented within BIOS when I had Intel setups a number of years ago.

Do a google search for more in-depth details regarding Offset and LLC.

    Sin,
You do realize that you could use DVID and LLC together with the OLD F3G and F3H bioses for the UD5 and UD7 P67, right? It was only after GB implemented the *CRAPPY* Multistep LLC (instead of the old two LLC1/LLC2 levels), and migrated that immediately to the Z68 boards, that DVID stopped working with LLC... it worked *GREAT* with the old levels.

I asked this before and I'll ask it again--since you DO have SOME contact with GB, can you please ask them to re-implement the OLD two LLC levels in at least the P67 boards, even as a special test Bios, so we keep the IB compatibility while being able to use DVID+LLC without dealing with the HORRIBLE spiking from multistep (without LLC)? It wouldnt' take them more than 15 minutes to compile a bios with it.... :/

I will ask again for you. The reason it doesn't work is because of the iTE chip that was used to do LLC and DVID with the old analog controller, the new controller has more user controllable capabilities.

I have no idea why they went 10 level, other than it does kind of work on some of the newer released boards and i think some people asked for it.

hey another user suggested this, try using Touch BIOS, set Vcore Normal and set DVID in the BIOS. Then boot into windows and use Touch BIOS and change your LLC and see if it works?

Ugh...I never used touchbios before didn't even know it worked on p67....anyway i'll see. But thank you for checking with GB about putting the old LLC's back. They can keep the multistep for Z68....P67s were so much better with the original LLCs with DVID.....

You could also change the LLC using ET6

I thought all GB's Z77 boards have UltraDurable4. How come it's only 3 on this board?

I should clarify this: Although the box and descriptions say it has UltraDurable4, UltraDurable3 is still imprinted on the board between the four memory slots. Not sure what this means now...

More interested in the G1.Sniper 3 board, this board is being sold in Australia now. Personally I think most of Gigabyte's Z77 boards look ugly, because of the stupid generic looking heatsink, I can't believe Gigabyte took one step back but if it really does provide better cooling performance, I guess its worth it.

At the last moment they changed over, some of the early UD5H's still have UD3 imprinted on the PCB, but have the UD4 standards.

I mean did you see the asus P8Z77 boards? lol do they look any better than these? I agree with you, these heats are a step back in terms of aesthetics, but for me its about OC performance and features and such with this platform, then they can get the looks right for their future boards that is fine with me.

If they put it on the back then they prob wouldn't put a button on the PCB, that means I have to stretch, and youd prob never use it if you use the board inside a case anyways. If anything they left a jumper, so hook up your case's reset button jumper to the clear CMOS. Either way if you are doing air /water OC on this board, you don't need to use the clear CMOS button, the board recovers itself I hate back panel clear CMOS buttons when they are used in lieu of a internal clear cmos button, it bother me. like on the ROG boards, I think its a dumbest decision asus makes with those boards. However there is a major difference between the clear CMOS jumpers of asus and gigabyte, gigabyte has shifted to the 2-pin clear CMOS, and ASUS still at the 3-pin, which means GIGABYTE you can hook up a simple case button to your Clear CMOS jumper, they even put it very close to the front panel headers for you.

higher model? Sniper 3. But why you need higher? you want clear CMOS on the backpanel anyways hahahahahahahaah j/k mate.
