AMD Shows Live Demo of Trinity APU With Eyefinity Gaming

Whenever we're at CeBIT in Hanover, or IFA in Berlin, we visit AMD and ask nicely if they have anything new and exciting to show us. At IFA 2010 it was Brazos, at CeBIT 2011 it was Llano, and last year’s IFA brought us an early look at Bulldozer. So, what did AMD give us this year? Two things, actually. For one, we got a look at AMD’s upcoming Trinity APU in action – and for another, a video of said demo that we’re actually allowed to show you guys.

AMD’s Saša Marinkovic kicked off by giving us an rundown on what to expect during the next couple of months. As we already know, the second-generation APU code-named Trinity will be arriving in summer, with exact dates to be announced. The same goes for the tablet-bound Hondo and Brazos 2.0, which will be updated with TurboCore and USB 3.0. Those last two will still be built on a 40 nm process, but by next year, AMD says all of its parts will be 28 nm.

That EyeFinity off the iGPU is ridiculous! That alone impresses me. It might not beat out Ivy Bridge iGPU but Ivy can't run 3 monitors off of it can it?
Why yes, yes I do use Koolance..*Flame Wall Inbound*

Hhummm I do not know what gives people the impression that Ivy's GPU will be beating Trinity,

When I read about trinity about half a year ago I seriously thought that AMD might pull off some serious lead on its Discrete GPU market, Ultra-thin notebook and HTPC's.

These guys have done nothing but prove what I thought to be the case.

Bravo for a spectacular development AMD, now lets see how delivery and pricing follows.

I thought there are already leaked benchmark of Ivy Bridge's GPU performance, only close to what A8 has?

Yeah Trinity vs IB would be similar to Llano vs IB now. Maybe a bit smaller gap

Can't beat iGPU in IB? You gotta be kidding . IB can't even beat Llano and Llano will be ~30% slower than Trinity in games.

When is Trinity coming out? It would be interesting to see the graphs of GPU performance/timeline. I think IB has made a bigger step from SB than Trinity did over Llano.

And where will Haswell GPU be in relation to IB's? Tick or Tock?

I didn't want to put it so bluntly... but lets give it a go..... whoever compares Intel's SB or IB igp with Trinity is really smoking a lot of pot or has a boot for a hat.... or hasn't even bothered to read up benchmarks.

I don't think anyone seriously believes that ivy bridge iGPU is going to match Trinity

However, I'm certain that the gap between ivy bridge iGPU and Trinity is going be smaller than the gap between Sandy bridge and Llano

, and it will be manufactured on TSMC’s 32 nm node.
    Error or truth?

They meant GloFo, TSMC doesn't have 32 nm.

For me it's not even a question of whether I want this or not, just "When?".
