Virtu MVP & COD MW3 actual gaming

Testing actual gaming with COD MW3 (a D3D9 game) and Virtu MVP testing, had to add the game cos it isn't listed in the control panel. Most interesting findings really cos the Virtual VSync actually shoots the reported fps through the roof although the VSync option had been kept Enabled within the game throughout the testing.

Game play was smooth to me, did not notice any micro-stutter issues... maybe I am just not as sensitive as others who had complained.

    Disabled

    Enabled

    Min fps

    Max fps

Notice the load temps of the card is almost the same whether Virtu MVP is disabled or enabled = ? same GPU workload but Virtu MVP doing the work when enabled. Hmm, maybe I should monitor the iGPU temps too during gaming instead.

Hmm, you say that you had VSYNC turned on in game and it indeed looks like you have VSYNC on since it is stuck at 60FPS with the MVP disabled. With the MVP enabled it looks like it has effectively turned off VSYNC even though it says it is on in the program as well as the game (only because it is not capped at 60fps). Is there any chance you could run that "disabled" test again with the VSYNC option turned off inside COD? I want to make sure the test is apples to apples only because it looks like VSYNC is actually ON in the first test and for some reason OFF in the second test.

    Unless I am missing something?

heheh, I also did a double take when I saw those figures and so I doubled back to check that the VSync option is indeed enabled. If you do look carefully enough, you may notice that I did the VMVP Enabled runs 1st at 2049H, double checked the VSync option followed up with the VMVP Disabled run at 2104H.

Is this the Virtual VSync feature at work then?

Not entirely sure, I think MVP may be conflicting with the games built in VSYNC option and effectively disabling it.

Try another test with VSYNC turned off in the game. Try leaving VSYNC on inside MVP, let's see what that does. I would contribute, but I am currently sitting in my office at work - it's nice being I.T.

Seems you may be quite right, tried with Vsync disabled within the game and the fps looks like those with VMVP enabled.

    BF3 DX11 gaming
    - SP mode "Fear No Evil" campaign used, Vsync is disabled within game

Enabled - min & max fps

Disabled - min & max fps

Based on these short DX11 gaming sessions, looks like VMVP drops the fps instread.

Did you not read my posts on the first page? I posted some serious praise for this program for benchmarks.

According to the Futuremark orb compare website (unless I am missing something) I think that I hold the 2nd place world record for the single-gpu 6950 and 6970's in 3DMark 06 with 36776 3DMarks, BECAUSE of this program.

My rig beat the score of most GTX580's in 3DMark 06 as well as 3DMark 2011.

It has yet to be proven or dis-proven that this program can enhance game performance as advertised. We need more people to test games other than just BF3.

you can use it in call of duty 4 modern warfare i think with vsync in-game disabled but both vsync and hyperper formance enabled.

Some games work some dont, you can add games, but there are some games that want vsync and some that only want hyper performance and some that want both. Then in some cases you have to re-add the game. I think also you are supposed to disable vsync in the game but enable it in virtu.

    Benchies:

    DIRT 3:
W/O MVP: Max fps 62.32, min fps 59.75. 6618 frames
W/ MVP: Max fps 84.94, min fps 71.61. 8859 frames.

    That's a huge improvement!

    GTA IV:
    W/O MVP: 58.52 avg FPS
    W/ MVP: 51.49 avg FPS

    That's a full 7 FPS slower.

Disable Virtual VSync, every game has different requirements. Somtimes you need to set dual GPU inside the game, otehr times enable or disable vsync, other times you need to re-add the game/program.

I still don't understand what this is/does... does this turn crappy "Intelgrated" graphics into pro-performance equipment via emulation and reworking vsync? Does it work for mainstream GPUs?

it allows the system to detect and remove frames from the processing que that wont be seen by the user. It also allows the iGPU to act as the output buffer for the GPU, so that the GPu doesn't' need to use resources to output the video. You have to be plugged into the board for that to work properly. It also allows vsync up to 120FPS i believe.

What do you mean by "plugged into the board?" does this only work with integrated graphics?

yes you need to have a SB/3rd gen CPU with iGPU, which almost all of them have, like 2550K is an exception b/c it has no iGPU so MVP wont work.

Any of you guys tried/managed to get Virtu MVP working with Intel Quicksync video encoding yet? Seems no go with DVDFab, had no problems with the old plain Virtu previously.

    anyone seen this demo ?

    http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sho...php?p=21469878

it seems he keeps vsync on in the game, and fps go off charts with mvp performance setting.

    250fps with discrete
it goes to 150fps with vsync on
460fps with vsync and mvp performance
    (if i understand corectly ^^)

ok it's only STF4, but maybe it just shows we do not haven't played enough with mvp yet ^^

I plan on playing around with it some more when I get back from vacation sometime in early April. Nothing major, just some screenshots.

I will be testing many different games using my eyefinity setup to really narrow down what a difference this amazing program can make. I plan to use fraps as the FPS counter in the screenshots. If anyone else would like to assist me, you're more than welcome to. From what I can tell, this program definitely makes a difference when it is used correctly. Some titles such as Battlefield 3 won't benefit from it at all.
