I think unless you do any type of video editing, it's a hard sell to move from a 2600k, considering everyone basically gets 4.5ghz+. HD 4000, on the other hand, is looking pretty solid. It looks like my GT 430 has become old hat with HD 4000 around the corner, and even more so with AMD's APU.

No overclocking killed this article for me, but that's NDA (or something else) for you. I'll be waiting for the updated version. Stock clocks on XS? Boooo!
    You must [not] advance.

I wonder if un-named intel's z77 board used in the review with (probably) not final BIOS can overclock cpu at all.

I'm impressed by the gains we see with Ivy Bridge. It's hard to increase IPC from a modern architecture today. This IPC improvements combined with higher clocks (I think it'll clock alot higher than SB) and faster supported memory will make Ivy a clear step up.

Hell yeah, Ivy comes to me fast and target is 6GHz on AIR...

    Ohh thank me for posting

but the thought of haswell just around the corner, and that all the games are console port. with new consoles coming in 2014. i might just stick with my 920 3.8Ghz... or i will at least wait for Windows 8 before i upgrade (still on Win 7 OEM)

I cannot obviously say what is real or not for a few more weeks but those screenshots remind me of the last time I had a vegetarian breakfast with Elvis and Bigfoot while sitting on the rings of Saturn.
Why do people claim to know something they do not and then write about it.

Any idea whether these chips are going to work on current 60 series chipsets?
Specifically the board in my sig.

Edit: d'oh, just checked their website, says that it should work with a BIOS update.

This level of improvement from Intel may soon reach to a point where ARM will be forced to hit the panic button.

It's great and all. But I wont be really excited until more 6 cores come out and prices drop on them.

Thinking the same as well, i5-750 at 4Ghz isn't too shabby for my use ^^

Is that really true though? I would think it's more the other way around, the majority "computer"-ish devices sold today aren't x86, they're mostly ARM based.
If the ARM support in Windows 8 is good enough and is able to scale well with far more than 4 ARM cores under one SOC then I think we will see something interesting happening.

that is backwards. intel is mashing the panic button because almost nobody needs more performance, and intel is the performance king... which doesnt help them anymore. intel is mashing that panic button hard, shrinking all of their designs down to use less power. the performance race to the top with AMD has ended. intel is in a power race to the bottom with the ARM army.

i think intel has something to compete with it on a shelf if needed, damn they have a working 22nm process nobody has, i would be surprise if the do not have something somewhere for tabletish or smartphonish devices if needed
