Even with Kepler on it's way, I'd still get Kep and just put the 7870 in my woman's rig I'm presently putting together from various parts (she only plays WoW, so she doesn't need an ultra high-end rig). AMD would've had me at hello if they had merely priced themselves accordingly. Midrange should be the $150-$300 bracket, and they missed that mark for me.

Still, not a bad card, just a bit over-priced like the rest of the 7 series has been.

I agree wholeheartedly. I'm fairly disappointed that the card is starting at $350. Even if it does outperform the gtx 580, that should have been expected from a new architecture.

TBH I would not expect low prices from either camp any time soon, that is simply how things seem to be.

I didn't expect low (low would've been $150/$250 respectively). I expect prices in line with previous generations. At $199/$299 these cards would've been dynamite!

AMD is trying to let board partners clear stock, something nvidia partners are already doing by not having new cards out yet. NVidia will actually be in a position to launch at the prices we're all use to seeing.

I am not sure, we do not know anything regarding stock levels of Nvidia's board partners. And I dare say they'd have very rigid clauses regarding the clearance of old stock when new range of products arrive, after all Chip makers need to favour and care for the investment made by those partners

I agree with you on "ideal" pricing for these cards, I suppose only those with enough dough and determination will be the early adopters of AMD's new GPU line-up.

No you wouldn't, they won't be available in shops till the 19th march. :p

Till then, the price might change, depending what happens in the meantime...

Yes, and when/if they do, AMD can adjust to that.

You know what I meant... Basically I'm saying I would've bought it as soon as microcenter had one in stock.
