    New dedicated cruncher builds!

Heres the first one... kinda became a hack job but hey! it works!

I have a love-hate thing going on with this case... but we managed to sort our differences out enough to succeed in this build.

    Maximus IV Gene/Gen3 - 2600K (probably 4.6GHz) - Zalman CNPS10X chopped to hell with a sharkoon 2000 fan on it - 4gb G.Skill 1600-9-9-9-24 - Asus wifi card - Hitatchi 7K500 HDD - FSP AU-400

And onto the next 2600K build!

When done I will have 40 threads crunching in my room...

Anyone else shudder when they saw that HS all cut up? actually good for using it, but just hurt to see.

And 40 threads in one room is pretty impressive.

I shuddered while doing it. The fact I didn't cut myself is simply amazing. I did it with side cutters. After it was all done I remembered I had a dremel.

Don't know yet. It was 6 in the morning when I finished... I put memtest in and went to bed lol.

Should be descent, minus the area of HS I cut out lol

I see what you mean now! You really made it work +1 for not giving up and buying another cooler

edit: What's the golf ball imprint on the fan blades? Does that do anything for sound?

They are supposed to make it quiter. Vapor gave them a good review LONG time ago. Then S-Flex came out... then gentle typhoon came out... now theres tons of better fans lol. I just had them laying around so I used them. They are not that quiet. Have a bit of a smoother sound profile but still loud. But this case and its awesome knob on the back lets me slow them down

I didn't even know what other cooler to buy! I didn't want to go to a smaller HTPC type cooler. as is I was worried about performance from this one.

Custom water loop is next I guess... lol.

That is with the fans turned up. Case is cool all over. Even air out of the PSU is cool.

Just started it crunching and turned down the fans a bit. will report back in a day when it's saturated with heat.

For some reason I never thought about updating real temp... I wonder if I've been going off the wrong tjmax this whole time...

    Updated real temp. Same temps.

Here is after running WCG for a day. Case is cool except for the back. Air coming out the back is just barely warm. Ambients have dropped to 19°C.

What's your ambient temp? I run my 2600K at 4.5 with 1.35v and have the same temps as you. In a full tower with an H100.. you really have me second guessing my setup. Please tell me your ambient temps are in the 60s

    19-20° C

Believe me... This has me questioning a lot about cpu cooling... This setup is only 10° warmer than my water loop...

Ok so 67-68F.. Well I'm in the low to mid 70's so maybe I'm not too far off.

Edit: I'm at 1.36v so yeah your temps don't look too far off.

it is cool in my room. I find temps do not scale linearly with ambient either.
