Niiiice. Team needs all the help it can get!

That is also some nice internet speed (I get around 21mbps down only which is around 2-2.5MB), color me jealous.

Oh, and if you are folding on your sig rig, you should put out some killer ppd!

i'm folding on that one, yes - but also on my server PC, my laptop, and my PS3 as well hehe. and, on my 2 PC's/laptop i'm running MCP and GPU. unfortunately, my sig rig is getting a little long in the tooth. one of the GPUs already crapped out, and the CPU don't quite hold the OC it once did if you know what i mean. something i've been monitoring though - i was getting about 34k/day previously, and only seem to be getting about 10k. granted, i lost a GPU, but i wouldn't think it would have that much of an impact. i'll watch it a bit and see how it does. i'm also planning to upgrade to SB-E/IB-E once the 600 series nVidia cards ever come out. should be some good times OCing once i get there hehe....looking forward to seeing what 12 cores and a couple 600 series GPUs can put out.....

4 Months?? I probably would have joined an Amish community after that, no way i could survive! Just 2 weeks without Internet was like hell once.......i'm going to be adding a 3rd rig, so my production should slightly increase as well for wcg/gpugrid/fah

well, it was never **supposed** to be 4 months. the fiber was supposed to be laid last november, so i had my previous connection terminated on Nov 2 (had to give 3 months notice so no extra fees or anything). november rolls around and still nothing. i call my guy up (the one guy in the company that speeks enough english to tell me what's going on) - he says....it looks like it will be december. crap, ok that sucks, but i can deal with it (if i have to, but this service better be all its claiming). so december rolls around, and still nothing (it's been about a month now). i call the guy up again - he says....it looks like it will be january because of the hills and such (the fiber is actually being laid down at this point). crap (and a few other expletives). i'm not happy, but i don't exactly have options. so january rolls around......still nothing (2 months now).....i haven't been able to call my folks....my son....nobody (all back in the states so i can't call with cell phone)....i call the guy (and do my best to refrain from yelling at him)....he says the fiber is laid, but they have to get the line authorization from the german cable monopoly. i ask how long it will take, and he tells me it usually does not take more than a week. 3 weeks later (after more than a few phone calls) i finally found out that someone screwed up the address and that i have to resubmit for the contract!!! ......ooooohhhhh, i'm boiling. (almost 3 months at this point) another 3 weeks go by before they finally get the authorization that should have taken less than a week, and then another week for the technician to come out and connect the line. so yea, it was never **supposed** to be 4 months (3 months, 2 weeks, 6 days, 10 hours, and 30 minutes (ish)....but who's counting)

i think i figured out why i was only getting 10k/day ppd. apparently, my GPU client was only doing one core....then sending the results, but wasn't asking for another core and therefore continuing to work. it was only doing the single core (job) then quitting. i reinstalled, so hopefully, that will fix the issue. ironically, it was doing it on both my PCs, but not my laptop. weird. oh well, hopefully, it's fixed now and ppd jumps back to around 25-30k rather than the 10k i've been getting.

nothing changed from when i was folding before i lost my internet connection - and at that point it was working correctly. after the reinstall, it still will only do one unit then stop <confused>. it's happening on both PCs, but my laptop is working fine (same config) <boggle> i've checked the config file several times and have not seen the "-oneunit flag" anywhere, but i can check again. and, i know it does not set it by default - when i reinstalled, i completely deleted the old folder...so it created a brand new config and log files.

well, i tried doing a "clean" install of the driver, and was able to get two in a row. then it stalled again, so i googled some things from the log and found something that said to delete the que. i tried that, but that didn't work either. one of the first things i did when i got my internet connection was a driver update - which included an updated graphice driver. i haven't tried going back to a previous one yet, but i may (just to see if it works or not). if not, then screw it. i'll just have to settle for 10k/day until keplar decides to grace us with its appearance (rumor mill has it between april and june - or q2). i also saw that SB-E (sandy bridge - extreme) has a c2 stepping out, but newegg is *still* out of stock on the 3930's (been out of stock for a long while now). 2 kepplers (along with some water blocks) and a 3930....if they ever get here

I've been getting like 14-15k ppd solely folding on my 4 core 945 deneb in my sig rig. Obviously it depends alot on what WU's I get as well as how much idle time I'm leaving the system, but your system should be putting out way more. I am running the latest v7 beta client with the following parameters extra core options to get the newer WU's:

    client-type
    advanced

i'm not getting 10k just from my i7-965 in my sig. i'm getting 10k total from my 965, my i5-750, my laptop (whatever it's got cpu+gpu) AND my PS3 all going about 16 hrs/day lol. i know my system is screwy right now (all of em). but i know i'll be changing things around sooner or later so i aint too worried about it. my numbers'll go back up eventually. i hope to reach 50-60k/day once everything is said and done

1 PC shouldn't make that big a difference in your electric bill. it's like 10 or so light bulbs if a kW/Hr costs about 12c (national avg) and your PC is running at a full kW (most aren't) then your PC's costing you about 12c/hr. that really too much? ok, i did the math: 24/7 usage with absolutely no down time comes out to about $87/mo for a full kW PC (yea, that's a bit much). but, if you're only running the CPU, it's probably closer to about $35/mo for a 400W load at the socket. and, only going 16 hrs/day mon-fri (work+sleep time) drops your bill to about $17/mo (still assuming 400W CPU only load - which should still give you anywhere from 10-15k/day ppd??)....we would love to keep you folding, maybe this will help change your mind

well, i fixed my GPU issue. apparently, my two PC's didn't like the new nVidia driver. i rolled back to the one i was using prior and they are working again. now maybe my PPD will go up a bit

I've been getting like 14-15k ppd solely folding on my 4 core 945 deneb in my sig rig
i'm curious - i'm back up to 18-20k ppd now that i got my gpu's running, but i got a LOT more running than you and i'm barely getting 20% more ppd???? granted, that's not 24/7 - but it's like 20/7 or so lol....so,what gives? i KNOW my i7 was not putting out anywhere NEAR 15k ppd (maybe 5-7). my ppd jumped almost 10k by adding my GTX 285 (only one, the other's kaput) and an old 8800 GTS 512 that sounds worse than my grandma's '68 plymouth (and that's saying something!!)...my laptop crapped out, but i doubt it was even adding anything noticable....so my PS3, my i7 965, and my i5 750 (stock) are putting out about 8k ppd (and i know the PS3 is a decent folder)....so what am i doing wrong????? i've got all the flags set (advanced/big units, MCP of course)...am i missing something??

edit: i forgot to add: something else i noticed: my GPUs only ever get 15k size units (never anything larger)....my i7 pretty consistently gets 500k size units, but my slower CPUs (the i5 and the laptop) would almost always get the 1M and 2M (occasionally, the 750k) size...i thought the larger units gave more points, but my GPUs (who are getting the smallest units) are KILLING it!! should i maybe change my settings so that my CPUs get the smaller units?? would that even change anything?

Well your PPD is rocking mine atm now. See it's all about the WU's being put out, I'm currently getting 8021's 8000's etc are awful ppd and give me at most around 9k ppd. When I was getting the 10121 or the 7000's then that's when I was seeing anywhere from 14-18k ppd. My 5830 gets only around 7k ppd plus creates way more heat/noise so I've just been SMP folding. I just run the latest beta v7 client with the extra slot option: client-type
    advanced

This is to get the newer WU's, similair to doing the advmethod flag with the older console clients.

Also since I don't just have it as a strict folding system, when I use it to browse the web or watch a movie or play some game, my production also takes a hit.

I think Im going to be bringing my server back up tomorrow and then the desktop Monday. Just have to see how expensive its going to wind up being running both systems, the girlfriend may not be happy with the bill though haha. Hopefully I can help give the team a little boost

Good news! Hopefully it doesn't raise your electric bill too much, but I guess ultimately it depends on the costs in your area.

I recently had my grand-nephew be diagnosed with cancer and hopefully with treatment he can recover and beat it, so I definitely will not stop folding anytime soon. (I know that folding@home and other distributed computing programs are not a direct line to help with research for cancer or Alzheimer's etc, but it's a step in the right direction)

Since I recently consolidated rigs and dropped my power bill by 40 bucks a month without negatively impacting work done elsewhere I thought I'd try to get my 4870 going again to do a little bit... And so much for that, I remembered why I quit. GPU2 hates my 4870 and won't even start up right
