You don't read really well french my dear FlanKi3r :

After 30 minutes of charge, without overclocking, and while the GPU probe delays a low temperature, the system hangs. We raise the test, open case, so as to observe the temperature of the card. Surprised, she quickly climbed the back of the GPU and once it reaches + / - 80 ° C, which probably reduces the effect of fixing the thermal paste, it accelerates to reach over 115 ° C and crashes. The log of the probe GPU shows 70 ° C only.
Not the same PCB than HD 7970 DCII :

    Olivon,

I don't speak or read French, but a picture speaks a thousand words. The article and your comments indicate that the measured gpu temp was 110C, while the software indicated 70C. And this was at stock clocks?

How wide spread of an issue is this? Was the review card a purchased retail card or a card sent directly from ASUS to the reviewer? After seeing that review, does this reflect larger issues with the card? It kind of makes me wonder if this is coincidence or the reason that the card is not in stock in the US.

    Yes, that's it

1st card (Asus review card) got the problem so they don't include it in the 7950 roundup they have done.
As Asus didn't sent a second sample, they took it one from retail channel and the problem is still there. Thermal picture was done with the retail one.
According to the author's article, the pressure between the heatsink and the chip is too weak and he was able to reproduce the phenomenom by excercising more/less pressure between the two components.

Damn Olivon, I had my hopes up for this card or the Saphire E6 card. I wanted to run three monitors & this card seemed to fit the bill given the display port connectors. My 5870 seems quite challenged to run three monitors with >40 fps. However, I'm surprised by lack of availability of the 7970's. I'm also disappointed by the stock connectors on the reference cards plus the issue of screen tearing using mixed connectors.
