Cool, I guess it will be avalaible in Europe soon.
I think it's a nice CPU for gaming if you want yo get higher Ivy Bridge-E CPU later.

Does anybody know if Ivy Bridge E will ever be released? Is it included in Intel's roadmaps?

If it goes for around £250 in UK than that's a great price for such a CPU.

Not on the roadmaps yet, can be expected early next year.

I hope with haswell the gap will close between the platforms.

Well it's faster than 2600K so price is a bit higher. But the real downside to this chip is the price of the platform needed for it... 2600K(or even better 2500K) OCed is still unbeatable from perf./price POV.

true, i'm still wondering for an upgrade...and it only OC well around 25% for 24/7 it seems, where my 920 did +40%...but it seems OC margin is lower now.

i think i'm going to wait for ivy in april and decide by then...but it's very tempting with good boards around 200/230€ and 65€ for 4x2 Gb of Gskill ...

    damn it...tired of waiting ^^

Same here, tired of waiting, been waiting all year for BD and SB-E, but this year looks promising.

BD lacked performance, and the SB-E platform was not quite what they promised otherwise I probably would be using both by now.

So now waiting again, IVY, then maybe a new finished chipset for SBE, and PD at least I have a mobo for that.

Still have two Sandy but I am bored with them, lucky for us we get ivy, and kepler soon.

A socket 2011 system with a Quadcore CPU would be bought for the large memory size support rather than CPU performance.

Great, they still can't stock the 3930K sufficiently in the US, I wonder how they'll do with this one...

You can get many PCIe lanes on 1155 platform using the nVidia mixer chip

Not true lanes, just shared. Also not the new PCI-E 3.0. It may not be the most useful right now, but a couple years down the road it will matter.
As others have said, getting this CPU on the 2011 platform is mostly cause you would want the additional RAM
    Rig 1:
    ASUS P8Z77-V
    Intel i5 3570K @ 4.75GHz
    16GB of Team Xtreme DDR-2666 RAM (11-13-13-35-2T)
    Nvidia GTX 670 4GB SLI

    Rig 2:
    Asus Sabertooth 990FX
    AMD FX-8350 @ 5.6GHz
    16GB of Mushkin DDR-1866 RAM (8-9-8-26-1T)
AMD 6950 with 6970 bios flash
