    FX motherboards Where are they??

Im looking to make a new build at the end of the year and now im looking at possible parts.

I really want to use the Silverstone Fortress case and watercool it.

are there any M-Atx / mini-ATX motherboards for the FX series planned.

I really hope asus does a ROG one (Gene)

So is there anything planned or am i going to have to go with an i7 build?

    Yeah, there are none.

For a few reasons, there is no longer a "GX" chipset out for AM3/AM3+ which a lot of the M-ATX boards used.

their SHOULD be Micro-Atx 9 series boards, hence someone with a Micro-Atx case can't upgrade their AMD system.

hopefully with more FX chips coming out their will be some.

are you listening? ASUS, Gigabyte, biostar?

The problem here is the lack of a suitable chipset, lazy board designers / marketing decisions.
Most, if not all micro-ATX designs were based on the RS780/RS880 chipsets which were smaller 528-pin FCBGA packages vs the 720-pin FCBGA of RD790/890/990.

Up until 9-series, there had essentially been a drop in upgrade and tweak for the Micro-ATX boards as far as new chipsets (890GX vs 790GX) based on the 528-pin package, nobody wants to completely redesign a board for the 720-pin package.

no they will only make for the "top cpus" and give amd bargain boards again for the 4th time.
they don't care what you want they only care to make money.

well since their are none whoever makes one will have sales im sure.

just saying that if u have a micro atx case u cant upgrade at all to AM3+. its end of line.

seeing how many cheap micro atx FM1 boards are out their, its just weird to me they dont have one at all for am3+

u have to get one of the last gen 880g crap boards ( which their are like 2 maybe 3)

    kinda dumb on their part

hey ^^ i went to bed XD

Im currently using a Gigabyte Standard ATX (check my build)

But yeah i have been thinking about going with the Trinity APUs and a nice full Xfire board.

But I really don't understand AMD at all with the FX series. It was all Hype Hype Hype octo core ect... then we have like 11 motherboards... and that's it. no marketing for anything else, and now they are just pushing the APUs and for serious modders and people who want hardcore systems an APU looks cool but its not powerful enough. Its no i7 smasher and there isn't anything that sets it apart from the rest.

If APUs had twin CPU boards or some decent ROG boards it would be interesting. but currently there are no viable high level gaming options out there, so i really want to keep with my 8150 i just wish there was a small form factor board out there.

<3 Duel APU board with 4 duel DDR3 slots and full x16/x16 (or x32/x32) Xfire.

It will never happen but if someone announced it right now I would throw my credit card at them!

Biostar has already said they have no plans for a mATX 9 series board because the market isn't enough to recoup their costs. The only mATX board with FX support they have is the A880GZ. My take on it is that they are waiting for the next (good) generation before they invest in their AMD lineup again.

...no, on manufacturer side pretty smart. R&D costs for a completely new design are probably too high to turn a worthwhile profit in this niche market...see the quote of myself below.
