AMD to Launch Radeon HD 7750/7770 on February 15; 7850/7870 on March 6

So, on the heels of the 7950 launch, it looks like we've got more info about AMD's remaining 7000 series products.

One of AMD's add-in-board partners just leaked a slide detailing the upcoming product launches from AMD. Following today's launch of AMD Radeon HD 7950 the company plans to launch four new desktop GPUs before the first quarter is over.

Doest look like a legit slide i think, its edited. Q4 2012 is written before Q1 2012 and all 6000 Series cards are in Q4 2012.

    It's GCN, so yes.
    At what rate, who knows.
    I would guess 1/8th.

What will the power consumption be with the models

    7850 = 6850 (while significantly faster min 30% hopefully 50 )

    7870 150-160w
    7850 120-130w
    7770 90-100w
    7750 70-80w

Performance, it depends if there really is a 3rd product from Tahiti, the Tahiti LE.
I personally don't believe the rumors that we will see one anytime soon but who knows.

If there is no Tahiti LE...
7870- I'm still expecting it to perform between 6970 and GTX580.
    7850- Roughly equivalent to a 6950.

I thought the 7870 is just a dye shrink of a 6970 with some minor tweaks. is it GCN now? If it is, that's pretty awesome news for me since that's what i'm hoping to pick up.

Nah..regardless.. the 7870 will perform between HD6950 and HD6970... Cuz.. thats how they roll.
AMD/Ati's 2nd in line chip never once outperformed their previous generation's top card.
    HD6870<HD5870
    HD5770<HD4870
    HD4670<HD3870
    ect...

Things change. Cayman didn't end up how it was originally planned.

exactly, with 32nm loss... AMD have need release an Half next generation with Cayman. Same for Nvidia, but this have let them the time to fix, tweak Fermi v1 before go for the next generation.

    Guess what happened to HD3650.

If cayman did got 32nm.. it wouldn't have higher clocks or more shaders.. It would've gotten lower thermals similar to HD5870 instead.. and HD6990 would have been two full HD6970 or with HD5970 thermals too.

For those who still think HD7870 is gonna be faster than HD6970.. Well, sorry for shattering your dream. From an official AMD slide HD7800 is positioned slightly under HD6900.

Everything below 7700series is just a rebrand.

7870 will count the same number of SP as 6950 together with 256bit 2GB GDDR5 memory. It will be clear comparision between GCN and VILW4.
We can assume that 28nm will give us sky high OC capabilities with this quite small die size.

Interested if its GCN - else its better to buy the 6950 once the prices drop.

What was HD2900XTX suppose to be?
It was, maybe, suppose to reach higher clocks.
And HD3650? Good argument. The HD38x0 was a refresh of HD29x0, a shrink with some minor tweaks.
How did HD3870 stack up against HD2900XT?
4670 was pretty damn close to 3870 in cases where it wasn't ROP or bandwidth limited.

So you missed the part where AMD said they had to CUT DOWN Cayman so they didn't have too large of a die on 40nm?

That is product positioning not necessarily pure performance...

Edit- To clarify. I definitely agree with you bladerash that history is on your side. I am not saying definitively that the 7870 will best the 6970, especially if there is a Tahiti LE part, but I'm saying there is a chance.

7950 beats the GTX580 by ~5-10% and the GTX580 is somewhere around 10-20% faster than the 6970. That leaves a pretty sizeable gap between the 7950 and 7870, in the range of 25-30% between them, even more if you don't use the stock 7950 as a baseline.

The two options they have to fill that gap would be the 7870(Pitcairn XT) or a 7930/7890(Tahiti LE).

I have my doubts about that as well.

    Actually, no. Not technically.

Cayman was created because TSMC cancelled the 32nm process and AMD needed a stop gap product. GCN was originally supposed to be released on 32nm in 2011 but it was put on the back burner due to TSMC's cancellation of the 32nm HP process.

    Wait..readying the slide: is the 7990 a dual 7970?and not a dual 7950?Technically is possible, but I don't know if it's a mistake.

    Not really surprising ...

5970 have two Full Cypress XT 1600SPs at lower clocks 725Mhz
6990 have two Full Cayman XT 1536SPs at lower clocks 830Mhz

Have any more info on this? First I have heard that they were working on GCN for 32nm.
Doesn't jive with other bits I have heard about the cancelled chip.

Anandtech and other places make it sound like shaders and other bits got cut or cut back as well as some new features. Nothing makes it sound like it was a whole new architecture.

Why would they make a stop-gap with an inbetween architecture?

You know.. The gap between HD5850 and HD5770 was bigger right?
HD5770 could've been faster than the HD4870 with slightly higher clocks, 192bit bus or a few % more transistors.. For the sake of whatever reason.. It's stockspeed still ended up behind HD4870.
HD5830 only existed due to low yields, wether there will a HD7830/HD7790 will depends on yields aswell...

Ahhh... all this random talk about bad yields, still.
    Not yields, bins.

Yes... Larger gap between 5850 and 5770. Maybe because of the 4890/5830?
Or because Juniper was 1/2 of a Cypress?
