I picked up a set of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148517 for $18 to supplement my mushkins http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820226295.

The Ballistix Tactical tracers are really cool with the heat sensors and Led's!

Is there any chance the Mushkin's have similar ic's being a bit older?

I have em all running @ 1700 8 8 8 24 1.55v or so atm. Would not do cmd 1 with 4 sticks but i think i have some clocking headroom yet at cmd 2.

I've already thought about that as well, but the 8GB kits are probably too much for the old S775 memory controllers. The 4GB kits might be an option but for that size we already have Hyper ICs.

1600CL8 parts are same or a little worst than 1866CL9? I have now at a store both 1600CL8 and 1866CL9, 1600CL8 being a little cheaper. I will buy someting in 2-3weeks.
Also something interesting........ 2.*4GB 1600CL8 1.35v Ballistix Tactical LP 50$

Not D9GTR, D9GTx was used on high voltage 2x1GB kits.
If it was one of these kits I'm surprised if he got 2400, these have issues past about 2200 CL9.

I think the best these could do on air would be about 2000 7-7-7-21 1T, maybe 2200 7-7-7-21 under LN2.

    D9GTR are entirely different ICs...
First we had D9GTR/GTS, then D9JNL/JNM, after that D9KPT and now we have D9PFJ/PSH/QMS as Micron's most interesting ICs for overclockers.

    Oh, I see...
I'm not so knowledgeable, specially regarding crucial kits.
    Thanks for clarifying.

I had no idea the tactical tracers can cause problems with x79 boards. I found this out after ordering 16gb worth.

nope but they should be really good since thuban doesn't like high clocks and love low latency.

cheap 1600mhz 11-11-11 1.35v 30nm d9pfj heavily sux stay away from them. I was able to manage 1866Mhz 11-11-11 at 1.40V but nothing else.

I had trouble getting past 1600 4x4gb with a AM3 system. I didn't waste much time trying to push further.

Nice result! What mobo are you using? I have 4x4 Gb teamgroup 2133 9-11-11 but i should force vdimm to 1,53 v to have my system stable so i'd like to try these Tracert! What the exact Crucial product number? You also tested at 1600 with low latencies?
    Tnx!

On proper PCB such as on Ballistix, Micron D9PFJ can scale well up to 2.1V and do 900MHz/6-7-7, 1066MHz/7-8-8 (on 4Gb modules) and 1200MHz/8-8-8 (on 2Gb modules).
In my case, the issue was that 4Gb sticks couldn't do over 1100MHz no matter what, 2Gb modules also had issues above 1200.

The newer stuff seems a lot better as there are people who did 1066MHz/8-8-8 and 1200MHz/9-9-9 at 1.65V with 4Gb sticks, but I'm not sure if those use the same Micron D9PFJ's.

No i think it's D9QMS, newer chip. It's on Tactical Tracer and i think on Tactical LP 1600CL8 1.35 too.
I will receive a Tactical LP kit today/tomorrow so we shall see.

    Those 2 gb modules are single-sided i assume,right?

    Also wondering if those:

    BLT2CP4G3D1869DT1TX0

Feature newer QMS,basically how can we differentiate older pfj from newer qms?
