I'm looking for a kit for a new x79 build. I want something that scales well with voltage. Is this the kit I'm looking for? (Elite 1866 9-9-9-27)
    Or is there something better.

for 4GB sticks I think so. Haven't really seen anything around here that can do better.... The Crucial rep at PDXLAN last weekend said the stuff is flying off their shelves and are having a hard time keeping stock...

Yes, noticed there's currently no stock for the 1866 Ballistix at the ebay places I'm able to buy.
Wish I had bought 2 kits when the price was good.

I lend my kit (that couldn't run at 2133/9-9-9 on my P8P67 Pro + 2600K) to a friend and he could do 2133/9-9-9 on his AMD FX easily.

    What did I miss?

    I could do 2133/9-11-9-27 with Mushkin 996997 at 1.60v

Hi, can you show a MemTweakIt screen to check some secondary and other timings (@2133 if you can boot 9-9-9 or at the speed you can boot them)? Maybe your board sets a value that's too low or wrong. Please do it and I'll compare with my values. Cheers.

EDIT: btw I thought I had a stable config same as yours ( 2133/9-11-9-27 @ 1.6v with Mushkins '996997', but had to bump them to 1.65v to get memtest stable )

I don't have the kit with me right now. I will report back once I get it back.

BTW my Mushkin 996997 is memtest stable at 2133/9-11-9-27 1.60v

Crucial finally got the 1866 set in stock yesterday, and got my kit overnighted to me. Have an 8120 and Sabertooth now to try them out in.

2200 CL9-9-9 out of 8GB sticks is about as good as it can get... Any chance of running say, 2133 1T?

4.6 GHz at 1.36v is really impressive too, most chips need around 1.4v

Do you mean 8GB dimms, or 8GB kits? I saw Crucial also has 8GB dimms, but I dont have those.
I havent done any 1T testing, as the higher OC you get from 2T always ends up faster.

Im stable up to 4650Mhz 1.356V under load. Havent been able to get 4.7 to pass though. Too much voltage (1.4V) will result in a complete crash as soon as Prime starts. 1.38V will run prime a few passes before cores start dropping out. And 1.362V will run prime for a little while before dropping cores. 1.356V BSODs from not enough voltage. CPU/NB doesnt seem to help either.

I meant 8GB kit, my bad.
As far as your stability on the 8120 goes it probably comes down to cooling. Without water people seem to hit a heat wall and drop cores pretty quick.

You need a considerable OC imo to make 2T faster. Most DDR3 of course can run 1T as far as you want so that's why I asked. I know this kit seems to struggle with 1T at higher frequencies...

I have an H100 for cooling, and at 4600 Im at 59C load CPU temp, not core temp. I thought about throwing together a real loop, but the money and hassle isnt worth the 100-200Mhz daily.

Ill give 1T a try. Before when I tested, I always found no or little difference between 1T and 2T or even 3T on the boards that had it.

Only thing Ive been able to do so far is test down to 1.6375V instead of 1.65V at 2200 9-9-9 stable. Also on a side note, got my CPU/NB down to 1.25v so far. Vcore wouldnt go under 1.35V for 4.6 though.

2000Mhz 8-8-8 is 1t usable, and is faster then any speed I got with 9-9-9. Also, tRC at 47 (stable SPD rating) was faster then tRC at 40 (mobo's auto setting).
