Any idea on what a pair of these would do for PPD?

How much would it cost to spec out a rig for this? (Ram, PSU-would 250W be enough?, etc.)

24 hour prime stable? Please, I'm 24/7/365 WCG stable!

So you can do Furmark, Can you Grid???

A solid 250w likely 300w safely and more efficiently. Points ~what a 3.6ghz x6 would do I'd imagine so ~20K WCG if I remember right. The Asus boards with certain Nvidia chipset could OC as well. Someone on here's posted the setup before.

If you need a psu I could send you an Earthwatts 350W.

Our Arimas do mid 30's and have 4 more cores so 20K wcg for this rig looks about right to me.

Well I ask because I have 3 250W PSU sitting here and for the next 2 years I have free electricity (minus the next 4.5 months) so if I can get these set up as low profile crunchers that I can sit on a shelf and it makes sense in terms of PPD/$ I'd bite... I'd build 3 of them and set it in my closet - double my ppd if I can afford it.

Plus, I could then put it in a decent case and pass it off for a free/cheap computer to grandparents/friends little brothers after the 2 years are up... or even use it as a file server if it makes sense to keep in terms of power...

Sorry to ramble, but you see my thought process...

I think first you gotta find some boards. That will make or break your decision methinks. I have some coolers that would work if you need those.

Agreed... that and RAM are the big issues... does this have to have special RAM since it's a server chip?

I would suspect ECC registered. But I may be able to help out there perhaps. I have 8x1GB ECC registered DDR2-400 if that works with those chips (not sure what the speed requirements are).

Economy shipping within U.S is free - PLEASE, someone, buy them all. We could get a lot of energy efficient crunchers for the team.
