These, for now at least, look like the "new Sammy" (for set up costs at least). Shame I don't have the cash. Make 'em sing, fellas!!
So not to throw a wrench in anyone's plans, but think this through as you go:
These rigs are like the Armani's - you're never going to be able to sell them for anywhere close to what you got them for
They probably aren't the best for PPD/Watt as they're 75W chips x 2 + other computer = ~225W for 20K PPD (comparable SB will be 250-300W Overclocked for 45K ppd)
It will take 2-3 of these to match a 2600k in terms of output, and you can sell your 2600k in 2-3 years for $200
And the economics: Say you get chip and board for $425, you're out $225 total. Since you can't sell these reliably, you're out the full amount up front. This means it's only worth doing these chips if you have free/low cost electricity, you have the extra HDDs/PSUs/etc laying around, and EVERYTHING you don't already have costs <$75 per rig. If this is not the case, you'll be better off with a 2600k (unless this is just a novelty thing for you)
With that said, let's see if we can get some bulk discounts!![]()
If those CPUs can still be had to a buck each and 60 for the board it's rather interesting even if only for the novelty.
If i get mine it`ll work till it dies.
Chips @ 2x$1, compatible mobo @60, cheap mem, cheap hdd, cheap coolers - run it on stands...
This will be arimas all over again, but - one can run any OS on these motherboards
edit - can someone change the topic, these arent 2419 EE-s unfortunately.
Ok, info update: the Tyan boad http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tyan-Thunder...#ht_1142wt_905 doesn't support the 2419, it supports the 2419EE. The 2419 is a 115W TDP chip and the EE is 60W, so it's not a matter of microcode, it'll be the regs that can't handle it.
Ok so board prices are now higher. Factor that in

too much for my blood i think
Shoota, your inbox is full.
Going through all the links I'm not finding a single board that's compatible with these chips. Not encouraging.
Ok, that Tyan board in the listing only goes to dual core chips. There's another variant that will run the hexas, but this aint it.

The listed board is the very bottom one, the one we want is the next one up.
Yeah the lack of boards of hurting us right now.
my inbox should be good now.

This just got a little hard for me. I don't like our chances of finding cheap boards for these, unless someone else has some fresh links?

More research!
The Thunder n3600R S2912-E (S2912WG2NR-E) probably DOES support the 2419EE chips (and most likely the 2419 chips in question)
BUT
the Thunder n3600R S2912 (S2912WG2NR) non -E variant of the same board does NOT.
Need to confirm.
If the S2912-E can support the 2427 why not the 2419?

It's just not listed for the board while the 2419EE is. Higher TDP chips are listed as well so is PROBABLY will run then.
Sounds like we need to message the seller to get confirmation.

If they don't work then even the bare hardware cost is too much for me. I can't afford to blow best part of a C note on non-compatible parts.
