Don't want it anywhere near my rig.
It doesn't even work properly on XBOX.

the 360 uses the cameras at quarter resolution (half vertical and horizontal) since it murders the usb buss on the 360 and breaks storage/controllers if its unlocked, but there has been this cam motion controls for well over a decade now and it has netted 0 things i want to do with it

All I want to do is play ARMA as a true simulator with a rifle "controller" within the confines of my basement. It would be cool for about 15 minutes if the kinnect could make that happen. If the kinnect could do this! that would be cool!

    Exactly.

What the heck is the difference? Probably isnt one. Unless you count that "enthusiast pc hardware" wont get discounted to the same $90 price the "mainstream console kinect" has been discounted to.

Main difference is the up-close usability.

Of particular interest to developers will be the new firmware which enables the depth camera to see objects as close as 50 centimeters in front of the device without losing accuracy or precision, with graceful degradation down to 40 centimeters. “Near Mode” will enable a whole new class of “close up” applications, beyond the living room scenarios for Kinect for Xbox 360.
