Some tests with 1/2/3/4x Radeon HD 7970 ...

Nothing special really, just running the 7970s in benchmarks. The cards make it very easy now to set top scores, but of course the top scores of today will be the slacker scores of tomorrow. Can't wait to see what people will do with these once retail availability is good!

Thank you for the wonderfully laid out post mass. It'd be interesting to know how much power you're sucking running that beast . Or should I say those beasts.

It looks like the 4th graphics card is overkill. Comparing the benchmarks, you canīt see a big diference from 3 to 4 cards.
I also would like to know how much power that system is sucking!
Thank you for sharing your experience.

A stock 3960X with Rampage 4 Formula and 4x HD7970 @ stock is about 1KW in very heavy benching. So with all parts overclocked I guess it's about 1500?

Not sure what's going on. It looks as if the CPU is the bottleneck going from 3 to 4 cards, but it might as well be unoptimised drivers for Quad CFX.

I guess we'll see with Ivy and new drivers what's really the problem.
