The slide showed the performance comparison between GTX 580 and GTX 780, test bed included Core i7-3960X CPU, Windows 7 64-bit OS，297 series graphics driver, resolution of 2560*1600，AA/AF enabled. As the test result indicated, GTX 780 outperformed GTX 580 by a large margin, with performance increase ranging from 50%-100%.

GK104 impressively doubles up on GF114's core count to 768 CUDA cores - although Kepler shaders will be different from Fermi counterparts. Single precision performance is rated at above 2 Teraflops, twice that of GTX 560 Ti and over 50% higher than GTX 580. GK104 will continue to feature a 256-bit memory interface, but with frame buffer doubled to 2GB presumably at higher clocks. With everything increasing, unfortunately so does power consumption, to a TDP of 225W. A GTX 660 Ti variant is also expected in the future.

GK100 features 1500 CUDA Cores, GDDR 5 memory with memory interface of 512-bit, the performance is close to the dual-core GeForce GTX 590, it’s scheduled to debut in Q2 2012. While GK104 features 1000 CUDA Cores, GDDR 5 memory with memory interface of 256-bit/384-bit as well as core/Shader frequency of over 1GHz, the performance is likely to be slightly higher than that of GeForce GTX 580, it’s expected to arrive in January or February 2012.

NVIDIA GK104 PCB Pictured

The picture confirms everything discussed in the diagram leak article - from the overall length, unique stacked power connectors, the five phase VRM, 2x SLI connectors to the display outputs. The 2x DVI seem to be stacked like AMD's Radeon HD 5800 and 6900 graphics cards, constricting exhaust flow. In addition, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs are present. While it is difficult to tell from this angle, this particular PCB - most likely an engineering sample - appears to be sporting the 8-pin + 6-pin stacked power connector, as opposed to the previously leaked 2x6-pin stacked variant. It remains to be seen which configuration the final production boards will ship with.

As for the bits not shown by the drawings - a total of 8 memory chips are present, which all but confirms the heavily rumoured 256-bit memory interface. A total of 2GB GDDR5 memory is expected. At first glance, the die appears to be similar in size to Tahiti, perhaps a tad smaller. Unlike recent NVIDIA performance GPUs, GK104 sheds the headspreader.

GK104 is reported to release as GeForce GTX 670 Ti later this month.

Not saying the slide is real--but, it's not the first time a slide has had a typo. It's also pretty common for one team to release slides when it's close to the other teams launch.

just like they skip 100s and 300s for oems and mobiles it's likely they do it again..

who knows the y axis is not labeled it could mean FPS so the 780 gets an average of 1-2 fps more than the 580 lol

Actually the site owner of the forum in which the picture was posted said there would be no GK100 but only GK104. When nvidia has sort out all the problems with yield, leakage etc they'd release GK110 in Q3 or Q4 of 2012.

that is odd. if you are correct, and the slide is real, then nvidia will release a medium-size chip that is so fast they can call it 780. very odd.

What's GTX 680?

OEMs pushed for NV and amd to rename entry level cards to a gen up so they could market them in january. and i think that NV has been trying to catch up to amd in numbers as they always seam to skip around once amd gets to a higher number.

i expect it to be about the same as GTX 580 SLI(maybe slightly slower?), based on nvidia's past generations... not that it matters. with the current trend of consolitis. i think maybe Metro last light and maybe Farcry 3 will push single GTX 580 @ 1080p high/almost max

how much better can graphics get with current generation consoles? improvement of oblivion to skyrim was quite big imo. uncharted 3 isnt that much better looking than uncharted 2, unlike UC 1 vs UC 2. i think this is about as good as it gets for current consoles, graphic wise. GTX 560 448 SLI is overkill for 1080p until probably late 2013

NVIDIA Kepler To Do Away with Hotclocks

Since the days of NVIDIA's very first DirectX 10 GPUs, NVIDIA has been using different clock domains for the shaders and the rest of the GPU (geometry domain). Over the past few generations, the shader clock has been set 2x the geometry domain (the rest of the GPU). 3DCenter.org has learned that with the next-generation "Kepler" family of GPUs, NVIDIA will do away with this "Hotclock" principle. The heavy number-crunching parts of the GPU, the CUDA cores, will run at the same clock-speed as the rest of the GPU.

It is also learned that NVIDIA will have higher core speeds overall. The clock speed of the GK104, for example, is expected to be set "well above 1 GHz", yielding compute power "clearly over 2 TFLOPs" (3DCenter's words). It looks like NVIDIA too will have some significant architectural changes up its sleeve with Kepler.
