"STALKER" developer GSC closes its doors

For fans of "Stalker" series, this message would deteriorate the start to the weekend: Apparently, the game developer GSC Game World insolvent, so the further development of "STALKER 2" is uncertain.

A warning story for those who wish to remain "PC exlusive". STALKER was the last series which was only exlusive to the PCs, even Blizzard branches out.

Time to lower our standards (now that PC is *completely* dead). I kind of revel this situation -though... I dunno there's something liberating in *complete* decimation. Thank you consoles for turning one of my favorite hobbies (that I had as a kid) into a mass-produced, mass consumed cash cow (now that I've turned into an adult)...

Without even going into "PC gaming is dead" debate, it really sucks that GSC is closing down... Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat were amazing games.

I was looking for 7xxx series news and saw this. What a bummer , they made amazing games . I think STALKER: CoP sold over 4 million copies, too. They must have let it go too cheaply.

Publishers practically steal all developers profit, the amount of popular profitable franchises killed by publishers is staggering. If the game had come out a bit later when self publishing via digital distribution was more viable they would probably be rich.

I don't care if games come out onto the console or vice versa but when they are a port on either system it just sucks. Not really sure why people play on a console though when a better PC can be made for less (plus you can upgrade anytime you want).

Well this sucks... Hands down my favorite games of all time. But hopefully this is not the last we'll see of them

AFAIK Stalker 2 was supposed to be released on consoles as well.

This is just pure madness! Every single release has been a decent game, although maybe a bit repetitive in terms of maps.
I really hope this is not the death of the coming Stalker 2 and that someone comes in and picks up the ball, Valve, Bethesda! cmon help em out!

And fun fact... multi platform doesn't magically generates more sales...
just check the sales of crysis 2 and crysis (+ expansion).. hell you even could check only the sales of the original crysis.. and in the first month the original crysis sold more then copies then crysis 2 on all platforms combined.
