    Thanks, and I figured so.

I'm able to run Prime95 Blend stable at 4615 MHz, 2408 NB with 1.416v/1.17v. Max CPU temp is 64c on the motherboard sensor...50c on core temps.

CU2 or CU4 disabled gave me 5060 MHz in Cinebench with 1.53v, still far behind what others can do. I didn't try disabling CU3 yet, but I doubt it will gain much. It's not like it matters anyway, I intend to run all 8 cores. With all 8 enabled it is hard for me to pass 4940 consistently.

    EDIT:
Though 4.61 @ 1.41v was stable in Prime95, as soon as I bumped the multi up to allow 4.7, and bumped voltage up to 1.46, I was greeted by the lovely Aero bugs even at idle. Now that Aero is disabled, I guess I won't exactly have to deal with it.

    Well well well...
    Min FPS in games:
    CS:S, TF2, L4D2, L4D...
All about 15 FPS right now with buggy character movement. That is with both Crossfire enabled or disabled and CPU at 4.8 Ghz.

I'm running bios 9921, newest and greatest and it's supposed to fix this problem. I ran Orochi-CEG fix as well to make sure. Doesn't help at all.

My Thuban gets a minimum of 45-55 with most of these games, and we are talking in places where I'm supposed to be holding 120-150 FPS +.

Heh, at least the games aren't bluescreening right?

But seriously, I guess we're still waiting for a proper fix than. No one seems to be in a rush to get this fixed though, which is sad as I was hoping to able to replay the HL2 episodes during my Christmas vacation.
Has anyone else tried the fix yet?

Are you sure your overclock is stable and have you tried any non-CEG games?

Backed down 100 MHz, now everything seems okay. I reenabled Aero too, but I doubt that would do anything.

Min FPS still drop (9?) but for the most part it's all okay. Playable, at least...99% of the time.
    Weird.

At least the box is cool....keep it in good shape for when you send it back or sell it.
Pretty impressive specimen that box is.

Well, I guess this is how things work...

    4762/2432 Mhz -
    1.41v = Instant 7/8 thread both fail (CU4?)
    1.42-1.44v =7 or 8 fail from 1-10 minutes
    1.45v = 7 or 8 fail after 10 minutes sometime
1.46v = #4 fails, after 10-15 minutes probably from excess heat.

I already disabled CU4 in bios once, didn't bring that much benefit. Not sure how to approach this.

4.7 Ghz is doable. Still can't run Cinebench at 5000

I ran episode one just a couple days ago, and had no issues. AFAIK BIOS is not "fixed" for my board, and I didnt use the Orochi-CEG fix.

Max in coretemp is about ~60c at 4960 / 1.52v...
Doesn't have all that much time to heat up

Still having the problem in Counter Strike: Source ...
With cl_showfps 2, I see that my min FPS is 5 (was 7, then 6, then eventually hit 5)....
Normal rendering of frames is 3.4 ms, every few seconds a frame comes by at 164 ms.

Character movement is buggy, as if there is a netcode problem.

Yes actually, quite often. Another reason why FX is useless to me.
I also use GIMP, which is 30% slower in FX than Phenom II, which is in turn slower than SB.

Anyway, I noticed that I only have this problem after extensive overlocking with TurboV Evo in AI Suite. A reboot fixes the problem. Funny thing is, max FPS I get with FX-8150 @ 4.8 GHz and DDR3-2133 8-8-8 is 296 FPS. I got way over 300 with Thuban (or right at 300 since theres a 300 fps cap by default in Source)

By the way, since CS:S got updated, it takes advantage of multiple cores...not sure how many, though.

lol, who cares if u get more than 300fps? For me it's not max fps but rather general smoothness.
I don't use TurboV. Do most of my OCing in bios...good ol' fashioned way

I just got the Sabertooth and FX6100 at Microcenter. They have a sweet deal where you get $50 off a compatible MB, so the Sabertooth was $129, hard to pass up. Hopefully I will get some time to play with it this weekend. I am still thinking about getting the Crosshair V, any opinions on this over the Sabertooth?

I like the way it looks more, and I'm pretty sure it clocks ram higher...
Daveburt only got 2004 Mhz out of his Elpida Hyper on Sabertooth + FX-8120, I was able to get 2170 out of Crosshair V and FX-8150.
All the ram freq records are on Crosshair V right now.

As far as CPU overclocking goes, I'm pretty sure Crosshair V has a little stronger PWM and also has the extra 4-pin.

    EDIT:

    Some notes:
    - 24/7 frequency not Prime95 stable, but ok for daily use. Made an exception this time, I just like the frequency starting with 5
    - 5260 was the highest I've managed to run Cinebench, but the score was oddly low. Have better run at 5226.
    - VID is 1.275V
    Hmm...
I noticed I was able to boot 5 Ghz at 1.44v, at first I tried 1.45v but it froze as soon as I loaded a game. It was okay for web browsing.

I then tried 1.47v, and I didn't get past login.

So then I tried 1.44v, and it is also okay for web browsing. I still can't run Cinebench at 5 Ghz though, despite temps being well under control. (I load at 48c (Coretemp) and 62c (motherboard sensor) in Cinebench @ 4.9/1.46v)

Before you even install the FX chip flash the bios to 0813 (assuming you have a PHII/Thuban)...
    You can find it here:
    ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/So...ERTOOTH_990FX/

I'm pretty happy with my Sabertooth...
The C5F definetly gets ALOT more attention from ASUS in the bios department though, but 0813 has been pretty darn stable!

BTW: I suck @ mem clocking so you'll probably get better results than I did.

The Ripjaw 2133 CL9's plays alot better with this combo than the Hypers did for me, but the ram guru's are having pretty good luck with them.

Clock your ram around 1600 -1700mhz with tight timing vs going for huge Ram Oc .. Theses Bulldosers Clock way nicer with below 1900mhz on the ram.. B3 stepping or another revision will be better just like how The First PHII was from B2 to B3. Remember these chips are meant to clock the AM3 IMC with 1866mhz on Ram or lower ...

    Just my two cents fellas.

    I agree.

Nothing wrong with Sabertooth OC'ing. The only benefit IMO of the CH:V is the attention given by ASUS.
This result in better OC'ing. I can confirm that 0813 bios rocks!

    Beep,

Did you try to get to 5G by just raising the multi or by raising ref clock? Try both ways, i´ve heard people who got better with one of both ways, usually by raising ref clock.

Try your PSC ram (if you still have it), this might sound irrelevant but it may help you to overclock your cpu better.
