Shader unlock possible for Gigabyte 6950 870/1250?

    Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125385

As I understand the best method to simply unlock shaders is backup the BIOS using GPU-Z. Use RBE to edit the BIOS and unlock shaders. Flash the BIOS from DOS using ATI Flash.

Has anyone confirmed that this card can be unlocked?
In the event that it bricks the card, could I use another PCI-E card (8800GT) to re-flash the backup BIOS?
    ASUS M5A99X EVO
    AMD Deneb 3.4Ghz Black Edition
    Gigabyte Radeon HD5950 1GB
    Mushkin Redline 2x4GB DDR3 2133

There are a few non-reference cards that can be unlocked, but I'm not sure about that one. There were rumors of manufacturers laser cutting the traces so the unlock wouldn't work or possibly using different components that aren't capable of handling everything. I'm assuming that by backup BIOS you mean the BIOS you manually backup during the flashing process, since that card doesn't have the dual BIOS capability? I don't see why that wouldn't work as long as no harmful damage is done by the flashing process.

Also, TigerDirect still has reference model Diamond HD 6950 2GB cards in stock. I bought two last week for a customer and they both unlocked and ran at 900/1400 without any problems on the stock coolers and stock 6950 voltage.

In case anyone was wondering I was able to unlock the shaders on my card using the method above. Then I overclocked the CPU/RAM to match a reference 6970. Seems stable so far.
