Lab501 & Kingston HyperX OC Challenge breaks memory WR with 3600MHz CL10

    Hey guys,

Saturday we organized together with Kingston a live event named "Lab501 & Kingston HyperX OC Challenge". It took place in Bucharest and it was divided in two parts: first part was a press conference in which we benched live and tried to get the world record in memory frequency and the second part was a live contest between 6 Lab501 forum members which qualified online.

    Hardware used:

    CPU: AMD FX-8150 @ LN2 full pot
    MB: ASUS Crosshair V Formula
    MEM: Kingston HyperX 1GB DDR3-2544 CL9 @ LN2 full pot
    VGA: ASUS ENGT430 1GB GDDR3
    PSU: Corsair AX1200

Special attention goes to the RAMPot handmade by me from an old Nexus HDD mounting kit and KingpinCooling Dominance Pot. Contact must be perfect to achieve these frequency so that's why I used Gelid GC-Extreme between the IC's and RAMPot and between CPU and pot. Congrats to Gelid for making this awesome TIM !

It was not easy but after 1 week of pretesting and after 2 hours benching live with 2 camera crews from national television filming, the results started coming:

    DDR3 Memory Frequency World Record: 3600MHz 10-13-13-31!

    DDR3 Memory Frequency CL9 Record: 3479.6MHz 9-13-13-31!

    DDR3 Memory Frequency CL8 Record: 3275MHz 8-13-13-31!

    Voltages used:

    CPU: 1.44v
    CPU NB: 1.625v
    vDDR: 1.95v

This Bulldozer can obtain some serious memory clocks when paired with the correct MB and BIOS settings. More info on HWBot submission.

Thanks to Kingston for great support and in the end some more pictures from the event!

Actually you need also a CPU with IMC that can handle this kind of frequencies. The two 2544MHz sticks were significantly better that the 2333MHz, so I just picked the best stick after a couple of air tests and that's it

Live TV, live TV, but all te overclockers, and friends who were there, just waiting for us to push higher and higher, that's the real pressure. We got 3407 from the first set-up, re-mounted, changed the mainboard, remounted again, and only the third "session" was truly succesfull. I can only thank all the people there cheering for us and waiting with patience
