Keep on hoping for them clocks on on air... some expectations are just too far fetched... really 5.5 - 6ghz on air 24/7 ? that would blow the entire high end Intel lineup to pieces...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

    Stepping 9

    Air/H2O:....4.9~5Ghz 1.35~1.37Vcore

    SS -40C....5.5Ghz~ 1.55Vcore

LN2 will be the cooling needed for max Mhz

1.35~1.37v is getting a bit high for 24/7 usage on air especially for 22nm. I'm expecting most people to stop around 1.3v at launch not necessarily of temp (I bet tempwise 1.35v should be just fine on a good aftermarket cooler) but cuz of potential degradation which is hard to know what to expect from a new launched CPU hence ppl tend to be slightly more careful at launch with voltages. So I still expect people to stop around 4.5~4.8GHz for most samples, some people may be lucky and may get 4.9~5.0GHz out of a good chip at lowish voltage of 1.31~1.33v or so perhaps as there's always those lucky bastards out there too that I unfortunately do not belong to. :P

At some point probably a new stepping will improve overclocks as usual (maybe 200MHz avg OC gain or whatever) but not worth waiting for just cuz of that.

If it is, it sounds very good to me... But I think it is more likely to be SPI 32M stable, single threaded.

Not bother with stress tests. Its 4C/4T chip with 2800+ imc air all benches stable (depend on rams)....more with cold

It needs good 2x2GB psc for 2600+ C6 with M5G/77 deluxe

Is that a 3570k then or a 3770k with HT off? Any 3D benching at all? I would love to know if these can close the gap to 2011 CPU scores .....

3570K. Imo, You need a pot to bench 6Ghz+, it still to early for Ivy's game now.

Too small of samples Ivy overclocked posted in the wild, who knows there will be 6Ghz+ chip retail non LN2...after a few months of release

Does anyone know what the price on release will be? Not the advertised RRP, it will eventually settle to this but early adopters will pay much more , so how much do you think they will be?

I expect $339 and $229 launch pricing of 3770K and 3570K, should be pretty close to 2700K and 2500K pricing and it to stick to that probably for a couple of months or so.

    $320 and $220 respectively, according to http://vr-zone.com/articles/intel-cu...nch/15557.html

Yep, there's something wrong w/ the chart..

Based from all the results i've seen from leaked samples, having high temps is 'that' consistent. Surprises.

it's a challenge with 4/8 past a certain point - LN2 will be must have.
Subzero-coolings with a powerplug will not do it...

I was still benching old P67 so next round will be new board - need to prepare some things first, afterwards next run and try
to get past 6 with raising clocks in windows. Haven't "benched" CPUz for quite some time

works just fine - not sure but RAM didn't seem to do that nice...need to re-check with new board.

A fellow in norway just got a 3570K and threw it in his Gigabyte GA-P67a-UD7 and he only got max 38 multi. So he ran out and bought a Asus RoG Maximus V Gene...

Ivy Bridge gets 95W TDP, worse overclocker than Sandy Bridge

It is Intel's new 22 nanometer technology with Tri-gate transistors that has brought these limitations. The transistorsare extremely tightly packed and the die size is so small compared to earlier processors, that the heat cannot be removed fast enough with air and water cooling. Rumors has it Intel is not entirely on the mark with the new 22 nanometer technology and a box shot of a Core i7-3770k shows a higher TDP than earlier expected.
earlier rumoured TDP was 77w: Source

"Mhz scale to 5Ghz" ability for IB probly so important for majority of SB owners, but a 3770K that can clock memory to DDR3 2900+ on air is the ones peep should looking for

    Just my 2cents

    Iam on the fence

Have a 920 system and iam going to upgrade for a couple reasons.

    1. faster CPI
    2. faster MHZ
    3. SATA 3 for my 830 to run full speed
    4. its time for a change

Looking at Ballistic DDR 1866 ram and GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD3H mobo and either a watercooled 2600K at 5 ghz or a 3770k at 4.7 ghz and at $199 at microcenter the 2600 is looking sweet.

BUT the Virtu MVP feature looks usefull can the 2600K use Virtu MVP ????
