    Rampge 4 catching on fire

    Hi Tistou,

Thanks for posting that pic! It is nice to see that issue from the back of the board. I have only looked at the front. I really don't want to remove my board from it's case but I will try and look to see if the back of my CPU 8 pin power is melted. I will report back.

"Flashed BIOS2 to 0018 bios (automatical update of IROG-1 again), shut down system, insert BIOS in BIOS1, copy BIOS2 to BIOS1 and now BIOS1 works again. Hope it will work for you guys too!"

Tried removing the BIOS chip, sadly it made no difference. I have tried about anything I can think of in order to get my system back up again today. I wrote a rather in-depth report over at Asus's ROG forums which you can read if you like. I guess there is not much left to do, either is the CPU or the motherboard faulty and have to be RMA'ed.

cpu throttle isnt meant to happen to 90 degrees c???????

any advice or setting u reccomend to change....... i have cpu mulit at 50, 100 blk, 1.42v cpu, medium cpu pll, over voltages to their max eg 180% or 140%......cpu vcca set to high.... ram at 1.67v....all other settings on auto
Did you try turning off intel adaptive thermal monitor or anti-surge protection? Both limit your overclock by restraining your cpu within its TDP.

    Question

What's the best method of applying thermal paste for 3930K and the like? With the cores on the edge I'd think that the "pea" approach is no longer the best. I was thinking of an "X" with a horizontal "-" through the middle. Thoughts?

I just use the pea size dot, for 3930k I used a little larger dot. Somewhere here in the forums there was a link to youtube video, looking through a square piece of clear plexiglass, you can see how the paste spreads using the different methods. The X seemed to work the best from what I remember.

I think I'll stick with an "X" but with a horizontal "-" through the middle the "X." Thanks.

I was not happy with how the loop turned out so I ordered some new stuff and this is how it looks today. I'm pretty happy with it even though I'm probably not finished with it yet.

Tried it the other way around and it sucked too much crap into the case, I have two cats and I don't want to use a fan filter, most are too restrictive. I get really good temps both at idle and under full load.

Seems I recall running into that stop code while playing with memory timings. Try resetting BIOS and loading RAW MHZ profile in the DRAM Timing section.
