    Core parking on Windows Seven

We had already noticed that the WinRAR benchmark, but also the application itself, does not benefit from Hyper-Threading Technology from Intel. In fact we had the same values found on the CPU 2600K, both with 8 logical cores and both with 4 logical cores.
Now we will try to shed light on the problems and secrets of the core parking of Windows Seven.

    Nice find ...

About Bulldozer or Interlagos, the problem seems a bit more complicate.. the OS don't understand how to interact with the 2 modules on full potential. i remember the article of Anandtech, where even with a single core enabled, the turbo boost was only of 18%... ( instead of 39% on more cores ) .. and it break sometimes at 1.4ghz ... not a problem on Environement dedicated to Interlagos, but a real big problem on Server 2003-2008 .

What is this fix? basically turning off HT? Cause I get the same problems no matter what I'm playing.

The problem is with the application actually, it's not telling the OS it can use all the threads available.

Changing the "Attributes" did nothing for my setup but the "ValueMax" to 0 worked wonders. At least for Winrar anyway. You can see 2 cores weren't being used in task manager before the tweak now they all are.

ya thanks for this man the fix works and on the best part it solves the stutters of BF3, btw you guys changing the value be aware that there 3 places on the registry u need to change the same

on winrar when u uncompress it still uses 1 core

when u compress yes, uses all a bit of them

Stuttering in games and some timing sensitive applications often can't be measured in benchmark numbers, so it's a good riddance in any case. Quite useless power-saving feature in a desktop machine, anyway.

    Nice find, it's a tweak I didn't know.

It's definitely an improvement, I don't even see the load progress when starting sr3 anymore.
One other thing, and odd one, it fixes my skyrim prob.
Well sorta, I still have a prob, but it corrects it's self completely after a few secs, did so 3 times in a row so far when testing.
Why I have no freaking idea, makes no sense, but I'll take what I can get ^^.

I have to check this on a fresh install when c&q and turbo is working, doesn't work at all at the moment, I must of gutted something by accident, it was like this before the tweak.
If it doesn't screw with the power states it's a keeper.

Can someone create a registry entry to enable the settings by double clicking ? So we don't have to navigate

Just create a text file, copy paste the code here and save it as e.g. unpark.reg
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\0cc5b647-c1df-4637-891a-dec35c318583]
    "ValueMax"=dword:00000000
and if you want to put back the default value (0x40,64) e.g. park.reg
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\0cc5b647-c1df-4637-891a-dec35c318583]

Ok I did that, both ways with a reg file, and went though each string, and I've still got a few cpus that say parked in the resource monitor.
