    1) Try using only one memory kit with XMP and see if it makes any difference. (Memtest and Prime don't always catch everything). In my experience putting two kits together like you have can be tricky to get 100% stable and is not a good idea if you don't know how to make the requisite adjustments.

    2) Try setting PCIe to Gen 2 instead of Gen 3, in UEFI. Edit: ignore this as the card is gen 2 anyway.

Have you tried setting your PCIE to Gen 2 ?
Also, try disabling HPET (high precision timer).

NEVER disable HPET timer, Windows uses it for timing.

Could you explain a little? I've been doing it since... I don't know... Forever. Never had any problems.

Its a higher resolution timer and more efficient for the HAL to use. Impacts the system less to use that timer.

Dear Raja, what's this Windows 8 BIOS conversion all about? I currently have the 1203 BIOS for my X79 Pro and am about to update to 2002, but it says I have to convert it to some .CAP format. Any particular reason for this?

Although I agree disabling HPET is not optimal, folks have been doing so for ages to overcome hardware related stability issues on add in cards and on board peripherals. This is typically used to address hardware timing best addressed by bios fixes with the card or motherboard. But when non exist it can be used. NEVER is far too strong a word in this regard. If a user needs to get the system running it can be used without devastating repercussions.

For driver Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI), it's better to install by the Device Manager (HECI.inf) or by the .exe
I have tested by the .exe, it installs anything other than the MEI, what is it?
It is possible to install manually?

The latest version available on the Intel site is good (on the Asus site is not updated)

    Thanks

I am not talking ages.. I am talking < ~5 Years, their isn't a real need for it. XP isn't part of the discussion as its a retired OS. Vista/Windows 7 and Windows 8 should have it on. If its unstable, the OS falls back to other timers.

Yes, because Win 8 needs it in that format - new BOOT features etc of Win 8.

    Raja,

I am really getting seriously annoyed with Asus and your crap software that either doesn't work, or WAAAAYYYY out dated and before it can work you move on. Over the decades I have bought A LOT of Asus hardware, but I think I am about to stop.

You know I've been patient with your Asus SUITE software. But now I've had it to the point of writing this message about a topic I know your developers already KNOW.. This doesn't uninstall!! When I uninstall your software. I EXPECT MY SYSTEM NOT TO HAVE ASUS ANYTHING RUNNING AT BOOT OR SERVICE START TIME or at login!

That is the POINT of uninstall, to remove the off the system. Stop services, remove them, clean up the registry and remove FILES. Pass this on to your developers, they just may have forgotten what uninstall means.

I removed, well had to for my upgrade from windows 7 to windows 8. No big deal, but now I am looking at 4 services still running, why? Why is your software still installed when it NOT listed in my programs and features? Is this software even LOGO"d for Windows and not just speaking about the drivers?

    R

Might be worth filling out a service request or posting over at VIP forums with the issues that you have with the software and sending that in. Probably an idea to keep the English simple as it's not the first language of the developers (take out the expletives, too).

    Hi,

Just got an Asus X79 board, after some problems getting the mouse to work in UEFI it seems to be working ok now.

I have a question about the error code display, mine shows AA. Is that normal or is something wrong?

    ok thanks mdzcpa.

The only problem left is it makes a weird sounding beep when it boots. Not sure if its the case speaker but it sounded normal with my old 1366 board.

The sub-section for the board - whatever model board you are using. Employees do read the forums.

Check the ASUS download page for the motherboard you have for any software updates.

Need some help from gurus of overclocking.

    System specs:
    i7 3930k @ 4.7ghz
    3x7970
    Sabertooth x79
    40gb SSD + 2x1tb hdds
2x4gb ddr3 1600 ram ( new ram will come next week).
    Corsair A1200W

Bios 2103 if I'm correct ( the latest official one, on asus page)

    Settings:
    BLCK 100mhz, strap 100
    multi 47
    Vcore auto + offest +0.005
Offest set on Ultra High and 120%
    Vcore during load 1.385-1.4
    VCCSA offest +0.025
    VCCSA according to bios 0.905
    VTT 1.056 ( auto)
VCCA calibration set on High and 110%

Tested 3 times OCCT 3h each on large data set + 5h of Prime blend with all available ram with 0 issues

But I get random freezing during Games ( Sleeping Dogs, Skyrim, GW2), after which I have to turn off and turn back on PC and it claims that the OC failed.
Currently trying vtt of 1.1 and vcca of 1.05

CPU and GPUs are on water, temps during OCCT on CPU reached 80 on cores, prime - 74C

I though maybe something was overheating, so I've put a fan with directional air blowing at the mobo and pushed down the VRM temps ( other parts stay around 30c-40c), so temps aren't the issue.

Any ideas what's failing me during gaming ? ( video cards are from previous rig, and ran 3d marks and heaven's like champs, no issues there with them). Also tested memtest already too -> no problems there
Gaming Rig 1 ( always under construction) :

PSU issues ? GPU drivers ?

    Things you can try:

    1) I would try to back down on the CPU OC (eg 4GHz and see if she holds up then) When running stress tests you are usually testing either CPU and/or RAM at the same time. Games stress everything at the same time
    2) Try with eg 2 x 7970
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Well I'll pull back to 4ghz tmrw and see what's what.

PSU is solid, at least it worked great with my i7 2600k rig with the same video cards.

As for trying 2x7970 do you suggest just disabling the third via CCC or physical removal ( the later will pose a problem, since my loop is all well up and running)

If you can disable it software wise that would be okay, it's just to take load of the board and PSU. Which GPU driver are you using ?

On my Rampage IV Extreme I found that an OC higher than 4.5GHz with "Offset " Vcore wasn't stable. It could function well for days. Pass Linx, Prime95, etc. Then, suddenly blue screen during a transient load or light load task. I ended having to use absolute Vcore. Left Speedstep etc. active with CPU LLC set to high.
