Resolved with latest BIOS flash. Not sure if this was recently fixed, but Tri-Fire works after the flash.

Well got my 3930k at 4.6 w/o much problem. Any having issues with VCORE?? I believe it is the VRM temp and it really shouldn't hit 81c+ that easily but it does.

CPUVCore is at 1.45, Cpu load line is high, and CPU Current is at 110%

Nothing seems that extream to trip VCORE > 81c.
    Now: Asus R4E with Intel i7 IB-E 4930K @ 4.4Ghz, Patriot 2x ( 2x8GB) 2133CL11 @ 2400 CL11-12-12-30-1T-1.64v
    Was: Sabertooth x79 and Intel i7 3930k @ 4.8Ghz, G.Skill 1866CL9 1.5v @ 2133 9-11-10-28-1t-1.64v
    Galaxy 470 (NVidia 750Mhz/1500Mhz/1730/1.062v)
Corsair Fusion GT 256GB, Crucial C300 256GB SSD Sata III, Seagate 2TB Sata III, Seagate 3TB.

With LLC at high, you will over volt past the set VID. Medium will give you what you set under full load. At 1.45V (more if you are quoting set VID) full load power draw at 4.5GHz will be around 200W, perhaps higher depending upon leakage and the stress test utility. So the temps, given the small footprint on this symmetrical, quad channel platform for VRM cooling seems about right to me depending upon how you are cooling the VRM/heatsink. These boards will take 200amp loads to VCC before OCP kicks in, the ROG boards higher if the VRM is kept cool.

1.4v is Vabsolute, 1.52v is max SVID just like SB. Max VTT and VCCSA is 1.4v. Those are absolute ratings listed, but intel lowered max vcore from 1.52v for SB to 1.4v for SBe. IMo don't go over 1.7v, i wouldn't even go over 1.6v at least above ambient. They are all in the datasheet, check em out under electrical specifications.

    Thanks Sin!

I am trying to figure out this M4E board today. Just trying for stability and wasnt sure what 24/7 safe was. Ive been lazy the past few months and have done 0 overclocking. Learning this different bios from what I am use to (gigabyte) is making it a little more difficult.

We all have to get used to UEFI, good luck. BTW I wouldn't run over 1.5v for 24/7. Id try to keep it around 1.45v max for 24/7, you'd look around 4.5-4.8ghz that way at least on air/water. i should get out of this thread before i get yelled at by asus, lol i just am bored today.

don't want to bash the party here, but looking at intel's datasheet i found the following figures for max voltage specs and absolute max ratings (red):

    VCC 1.35V 1.4V
    VCCPLL 1.881V 2.0V
    VCCD 1.575V (DDR3) 1.85V
    VTT 1.095V 1.4V
    VSA 1.2V 1.4V

remember this is intel spec. we are at xtremesystems here, so most won't even care ...

with water-cpu in a case i would suggest a good fan blowing air over the VRM area...

well i always wanted 6 cores but from what i've seen 5Ghz is land of 3960X and i cant afford that, 3930X seem nice for 4.7 and 4.8 im not saying this is bad but im runing my 2600K at 5.1 for daily and its hella fast

nice to have you here again mate !
    Cheers

Starting to get the hang of this board a little. Running Blend now at 4.5ghz, but not going for any marathon runs. Just trying to get a feel for it.

very nice oc, glad to see you around its been a while

    batch # on that chip?

looks like a nice one 4.5 at 1.28 and the temps are even better, barely 55c under load

Yes, and also note that the absolute max voltages are based upon power draw at stock processor frequency only. Increase frequency and you breach the power band the specifications have been listed for.

I wonder why Asus didn't just go with Maximus V Extreme since P67/Z68 already has the M4E! It's too confusing...
