Thumbs up They almost need more badges

Would be cool to see another tier of WCG badges. Maybe for like the 10 year mark on a project.

Agreed - however I don't see myself hitting 10 years on a project

My sapphires are new, I am sure the project are near their end, no way I could get 5x as much.

If they did introduce a ten year badge there would be a few who'd get them, but certainly not everyone.

That's the point! Give us a hard to obtain goal. I hit 10 years on C4CW and was thinking about it.

I don't have ten years on any project, though I'm closest on C4CW. A couple of dual socket boards running 12core chips should take care of the run time issue. AMD have some 12 core Optys coming out soon, maybe I should but a lottery ticket.

I think a 10 yr badge is fairly reasonable... especially when hardware is advancing as fast as it is.

I have about 14 years into HCC so I wouldn't mind a badge for it.

I need more crunchers for that. My best is 3 years on HCC. But I'm running all projects, so it will take a little longer to get to 5 or 10 years on a project.

But it would be nice to have them anyway.

It'd give the long term cruncher something fun to shoot towards. Just like Bentley Continental GTs, it'll be a high mark to obtain.

If I were to propose this to WCG, where would be the best place? Or, if some of you guys that have been around a lot longer than me, and have an inside/pull, drop a hint to someone!

And what should it be? Some think like this? Bronze - Silver - Gold - Ruby - Emerald - Sapphire - XS

I guess one could argue for diamond, but the fact is that while they may be desirable, diamonds aren't rare. There's other very rare and expensive gemstones - but they all have rather esoteric names that would be unfamiliar to most.

Movieman: "hey everybody, I just went Serendibite on HFCC!"
    SMTB1963: "huh?"

Maybe instead of a static .jpg, an animated GIF could be used, like so:

EDIT: HA! I like the XS idea!

It has been proposed on the WCG forums but nothing has come of it yet. It's been so long that it appears that nothing will ever come of it.

The bigger than 2 year badges would be nice for those that have big farms.
It would be something nice to give the extreme crunchers a bit more recognition.

And with the advances in technology we should be able to see more and more people get them as time passes.

    Main Rig:
    - i7 2600k + Noctua NH-C14 - GTX 570
    - 16 GB RAM - Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3
    - 1x 256GB Corsair Performance Pro SSD
    - 1x 256GB Samsung 830 SSD

Not just people with big farms. Also for people that have only a computer or two and plug away at it for years.

I saw someone comment in one of the WCG threads yesterday about being about ten CPU years away from 100 CPU years on HCC. Is a ten year badge even enough?

I'd be surprised if he doesn't have 100 on more than just HCC.

hes got about 360 years of runtime. thats just crazy. wouldnt be surprised to if he has 3 projects with 100+ years. he'd still have enough runtime left for every other project to be triple sapphire....
