    Earth quake.

About a month ago we had the Oklahoma state record 5.6 magnitude earth quake, (epicenter about 15 miles from my house)
a 4.7 first then 18 hours later the 5.6 and another 4.7 the next day.

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...sh.&highlight=

^^^^^^This case^^^^^^^^^ was launched 2 feet onto its top.

After the 30 secs of waves going thru my concrete house foundation, my son screaming and
12.1 surround sound of glass breaking all thru the house i found my case upside down.

Here you can see it on the left and to the right the back of my 65 inch mitsu DLP tv.
The two fan grills are for the bottom rad.
Sorry for the crappy phone pic.

When i found it like this it was still running. I instantly flipped the power switch to turn it off.
Set it back up, checked everything and no water leaked out anywhere. The top front of the case
is caved in pretty good. A couple of days later i checked it over good to find the DVI to HDMI adaptor
on the 4890 video card bent at about a 45 degree angle and the lower ST 220 rad broke loose from the bottom
and 2 broken mobo mounting screws.

My son and i fired it up to see it work just fine except for air in the system due to it running upside down.
he fired up a youtube video and all was good.

We then went out side to do some work to come back and find the screen saver.

After that it just cycles on-off-on-off.

Just got me a Silverstone Grandia HTPC case i am going to build next.
Since it will already be on the ground i hopefully won't have to worry about flying computer cases.

Thanks, yes everyone is fine, some damage to the house/foundation and such but no injuries.

Actually the first 4.7 I thought was kinda cool as these were the first ever earthquakes
    i have ever felt.

The 5.6 that followed about 18 hours later was not cool at all.
What is it they say? A 7.0 is like 10 times more powerful than a 6.0?

Anyway i am sure/hopeful one of my 2 4890,s still work, i plan on reusing one of them
for the Silverstone Grandia HTPC case. Only problem is i am not sure i still have the stock
coolers for them and i don't plan on water cooling the HTPC as i only have 2 220 rads and a single
320 rad. Not a good thing to try and fit them on, in or around a HTPC.

I plan on using a micro ATX mobo with probably one of the AM3+ quad or 6 core cpu,s
one of the 4890,s and the same old Seasonic X750 psu, 40gig SSD.

Yeah, the Richter scale is logarithmic, so a +1 increase means a tenfold of shaking magnitude, and an energy release of about 31.6 times more. Probably the reason you sort of enjoyed the 4.7, but didn't feel the same about the 5.6 .

Good to hear the only damage is property damage, that should be fixed easily . Good luck getting your pc working again.
