Microcenter has LGA2011 CPU's and Mobo.

    3960X is $1149
    3930k $649

Will post pics when i get home.

Asus x79pro is in as well but no prices yet.

    Edit;
Posted pics. Pics are from Rockville, MD store.

Asus mobo is not even in their system yet, so no one could tell me prices, but they have two of them on hand.

Wish there was a microcenter near me. I suppose I could drive up to Boston if I get word of it being in stock there.

That price made my butt hurt a little. There is a $500 difference between a 3930 and 3960? One could get a GTX580 for the difference. Damn you AMD for making Bulldozer suck allowing Intel to charge their "traditional" prices!

Top bins will always cost top dollars. Even when AMD had excellent performers (e.g. K8), Intel charged same top $$$ for top parts. It's called luxury Even if BD FX chips were 1$ and had double the performance, the top i7-3xxx would still cost the same.

The great question today however is who needs them really or at least who has use of it? In K8 era it wasn't such an easy answer as the top CPUs could still not do everything most consumers needed. Today... any CPU can

Ouch, $650.... Talk about taking the piss out of overclockers. Sure miss the $299 I spent on my 920 when it came out.

I guess Intel will have to wait for my money.

Really would have been nice to see this platform come out swinging at launch with something like a $300 hex at the low end.

The high end is getting to rich for my personal needs I guess.

Looks like I'll be holding onto my 1366 rigs a little longer, could probably pickup up a 970, oc it and be fine for another couple years honestly.

Note that these are traditional early-adopter launch rape prices. MC generally has good CPU pricing, but they're not immune to the allure of making people pay the early adopter tax.
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

    Rule 3:
When it comes to computer news, 70% of Internet rumors are outright fabricated, 20% are inaccurate enough to simply be discarded, and about 10% are based in reality. Grains of salt--become familiar with them.

Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

    Random Tip o' the Whatever
You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.

1149 USD, that is DIRT cheap, here, we dont expect that any stores get them less than 1299 USD at any time before successor is launched, you Americans just got freaking low prices on hardware in generel.

Cheapest i7-990X in the country is 1255 USD at the moment =)

Microcenter is traditionally below newegg, by a good amount, almost $50 USD with the 2600K and 2500K. Id expect higher on newegg if MC is down-pricing them, of course Intel might ask MC to have the same price as newegg, and then MC will drop the cost more. MC usually also doesn't sell more than 1 CPU per household, and if they do you have to buy a whole systems, that is what they count on, just like laptops or desktop PCs, they charge close to cost hoping that ppl will accessorize.

That's only true for low end chips, MC are usually $100+ over newegg for 980x/990X in my experience.

Like others have said this is an early adopter price. Intel lists it at $555.

Also, with all the info on this board I'm surprised people are still interested in getting the first batch of SB-E's...

No, I do not believe sales tax is ever included on a sticker price.

I'll be tempted if they reach $450 through MC's crazy discounting or mobo bundles, but no higher.

    @Patracetin: The 3820 is slated for a Q1 12 release.

Since the chips haven't been officially released yet, those are the regular prices. Micro center should lower the prices after other places like newegg starts to sell them. When new chips come out, the prices are usually absolutely ridiculous. Check the sku stickers on other CPU's in store. I bet the Phenom II X4's still have stickers saying they're $200 or so, even though they're selling for ~$130. It just gives them room to raise the price if they need to for some odd reason. Also makes people think they're getting a better deal when they see a sign saying the $200 CPU is selling for ONLY $130 :P

Thanks. I'm not in the US but if your prices are crazily low, it might be worth a trip over the pond.
Speaking of travelling, I wonder what the prices of them processors are in Hong Kong... anyone from there??

The UK prices are a rip off too!

    i7-3930K = ~£470-500 inc Vat = $747-$795
    i7-3960X = ~£800-880 inc Vat = $1272-$1400

Crazy prices in the UK, I just hope those were typos or something.
The main e-tailers will release their prices tomorrow, which should hopefully be a lot cheaper than this. I was hoping the 3960K would be ~£630 (~$1000)

The top extreme Intel CPU has always been around £800-900. I don't see that changing this time around
