    i need new headphones/headset i have about $100

i need new headphones/headset i have about $100 but could go up if needed.

im looking for one that the cord will not remove its self from the driver (i lost my dt770 from that and then i proceeded to kill them by trying to solder them back so now the left driver is dead since the wires they have stock are crap and i ignored that i should have stopped but they did last almost 5 years, then my spare zagg ones died from that as well but in a couple months of use.) im also looking for good audio quality and something that sounds more like BD or audio technica than sens. i would get another set of 770 but they are over $200 now. i have a sound card that has an amp so i can do high ohm and i was thinking of going audio technica as they are all on sale at guitar center since they are discontinuing them.

also are there any of the cheaper ones that have removable cords or the cord on the right side.

more headphones should come with a 1/8th mini jack on the headphones themselves so you can just swap the cord....

I don't think so. There might be but in a different model. I used this type and closed type too and now I don't like closed ones. Closed can hurt my ears unlike the open ones.

If you can get them for $100, buy them. They are worth much more than that.

Forget the ohm rating, these cans rock.

Actually I have heard very good things about the Beyerdynamic DT990 headphones. You can get the "pro" model which is supposed to be exactly the same sound as the "premium" ones for only $172. The differences are cosmetic. I know its farther out of your initial price range, but you did say you could go up if needed. And I think these would probably be the best cans in that price range.

Here is a great place for graphs on frequency response and distortion to compare different headphones:

Don`t know the retail prices in USA, but the open Studio line from AKG has best sound for me.
And the weight`s a lot les, compaired to the closed models.

those are about $100 but they are open. i was thinking of the 271 akg since they have a detachable cable they are about $130, but ive narrowed it down to another set of BD 770, AT m50 or the akg 271

i found a set of half working koss custom pro from the 70's so thats tiding me over until guitar center has a sale.

the best of those would be the BD 990, if u go on the site were they came from the akg 702 are the benchmark to compare things to

so u want the frequency responce to be as flat as possible and as close to 0 as u can get, the the others u are looking for low spikes on harmonics and the others dont really matter.
