    Llano Undressed

Decided to take apart my laptop to reapply thermal paste. Therefore:

Here are some money shots of my A6-3400M

More pics at my blog: http://slappablog.wordpress.com/2011...lory-pictures/

Just thought I'd share with you guys....since it did take a lot of effort to rip apart my laptop. I needed something to show for all that work :P

That's a pretty decent sized die!

What laptop model is it? You overclocking it like most of these crazy guys? I heard of some guy running an A6-3400M at 2.6 Ghz 24/7...that's just insane. I thought those things ran warm at stock??

That's what I said. I did some research on it and found this: http://support.amd.com/us/Processor_TechDocs/44455.pdf

Told me that the apu wasn't soldered. So I was stoked.

Yeah the 6520G adds quite a bit of die space

    It is this model: http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/biz...ctID=c02958761

    I edit the p-states for certain purposes. When folding I run 2.3GHz @ 1.125Vcore . When at school I underclock/undervolt a lot. 400MHz @ 0.6125vcore. Since I replaced the thermal paste I can probably go higher for folding. For games I run at 2.7GHz @ 1.200Vcore.

Temps while folding at the above settings are around 77-79C depending on the work unit.
Gaming at 2.7GHz is about close to the same. Sometimes going to 85C.

The general consensus with these laptop apu's is to keep the temps under 85C full load. Besides, AMD stresses these laptop chips+sockets at 115C for 500 hours as written in the pdf above. 115 is the tj max for the processor, so going to 85C doesnt bother me.

BTW the cooling assembly on this laptop is very crappy. So I am thankful for what I can reach with it.

I'm not sure if I'll have cash for LN2 this winter, been looking around for formidable part time jobs to no avail.

I can pass, unless it is just taking up space.

Alright. I think I'll take it for another spin if I have money for a setup after Christmas. Otherwise, you are free to take
