    BF3 Runs Like Crap!

I'm having some problems running BF3 on my rig in my sig. Running two GTX 285 2GB cards in SLI with an overclocked 920 and the game runs like complete ! Very laggy and it looks awful. I have always played PC games without any issue but this game has me stumped, I can play BFBC2 on high without a problem and completely lag free. BF3 is laggy and I have to run on low to play at all and it still runs terrible. I have searched the internet to find nothing but people bashing the game with no real resolutions, can anyone help me get this game to be playable? I'm about to uninstall this game and never logon again!

For starters it is very VERY overclock sensitive, try stock clocks and see if it gets better.

That was the first thing I tried but no difference what so ever. I'm actually at stock on both my CPU and GPUs now, going to try a reformat and reinstall tomorrow but I was saving that as a last resort seeing how my other games run perfect. Thanks for the reply though.

Works great on my GTX 295 and I'm using a q6600 cpu with 4 gigs of ram. I can run Ultra but the minimum fps is unpleasing so I run high or med-high usually. I've found that it maxes out my cpu unless overclocked but you shouldn't have that issue. Also, I'm unsure why but it seems to never max out my card.. maybe my cpu is still a bit of a bottleneck.

This doesn't help your situation but I figured I'd give you the info I have seeing as we both rub 200x series cards. You have much more vram though and also the two 285s should be a good bit faster than my 295. Also, you cpu is much faster and you have much more ram so you shouldn't have any issues.

Btw, is it laggy like multiplay lag? like fps lag? do you know how many fps you're getting? If it's singleplayer it could be the Origin overlay which I've heard a lot of people having issues with including myself.

I see a lot of people talking about disabling HT, that doesn't seem right to me but I'm going to give it a try. I only play multiplayer and I'm experiencing lag and low FPS. The game doesn't look good and it's very choppy for me.

Disabling HT is such a common workaround that many people with HT CPUs disable it right after building their systems before they even start gaming on them. It's also common practice to disable it before OCing an Intel CPU.

    I have a friend running BF3 on 2 x stock 285's SLI'd with a 920 D0 @ 3.2 and it's smooth as butter. It must be a software issue on your machine unfortunately.

Some ways to minimize or alleviate stutter that some have used successfully, if that's what you're experiencing:

    1. Turn off VSync
    2. Disable Origin overlay
    3. Disable HyperThreading
    4. Disable Legacy USB support

The game clearly needs a patch though. Every time I see that "The most anticipated shooter of the year" banner on the official forum it looks more and more ridiculous, esp since EA are keeping rather silent about what, if anything, is being done to fix this game.

Have you tried underclocking your cards?

It might sound odd but it was the only thing that worked for me on a 6950. I tried it out after reading about some of the nvidia 5XXoc cards having similar issues to mine and had to underclock them.

What's wrong with card manufacturers? Are they really selling unstable cards?
That's the last thing I would expect from them, ffs.

That's odd. On my 1100T I get exactly 50% usage and my GTX 480 is pegged at 99% according to AfterBurner.

My PC is older then this and not even an i7 and it plays BF3 at Ultra at 1080p nicely and when I push it to 5760x1080 it still plays fine.

Hmm.. maybe it's because of DX10? or maybe the about of vram the GTX 295 has is holding it back? Not sure.

In some maps.. like Operation Firestorm - My gpu usage is in the 30-40% range while my cpu is in the mid-upper 90 percentage.
