    Wtf?!

You saw a shirt for $97. You didn’t have the cash, so you borrowed $50 from your mom and $50 from your dad= $100. You bought the shirt.and had $3 change. You gave your dad $1 and your mom $1 and kept the other $1 for yourself. Now you owe your mom $49 and your dad $49. 49+49 = 98 + your $1 = 99. Where is the missing $1?

I fail to see the "wtf" ?

    the 1 isn't "missing" ...
    50 + 50 = 100
100 - 97 = 3 spare; you then pay back 1 $ to each parent, you owe them 49 still in total.
You then calculate that the "value" ought to be what you owe + your 1$ you kept, no the value you need to calculate is the 97 + 1 (dad) +1 (mom) +1 (your pocket).

Going the route you did is comparing apples to the tasty-factor of navel fuzz.

There is no missing dollar. You paid down a liability by 1 dollar each and now you owe 98 dollars. You need 49 for one, and 48 for the other (you already have the $1).

You simply neglected to distribute the additional dollar. If you paid mom or dad the extra dollar, you would owe as I have said above.

edit: I realized I made a buncha typos doesn't change the answer tho

    Bad math.

    Owe $100.
    Give each back $1.
    Now owe $98.

    $49 + $49 = $98.

    No "missing dollar" here.

start with 10 apples, and you take away 3 apples, how many apples do you have?

4 out of 5 people answer this question wrong also!

Boy that info was old. As am I. Currently my kids have taken over my desktops. They are both sporting matching GTX1080's. Last Christmas I got everyone Oculuses and thus GTX1080's. My eldest is some sort of CSGO champion gold label something or other. Me I work and shoot real guns. Build Comps as needed.

Bad math. $49 + $49 + the two dollars you gave back to them = $100

The way its written just tries to mislead people into thinking along with the bad math, even though it doesn't make any sense and has no purpose.

This cosmic dance of bursting decadence and withheld permissions, twists all our arms collectively, but if sweetness can win, and it can, then I'll still be here tomorrow to high-five you yesterday, my friend. Peace.
