Seems to be everyones getting back into Motherboards with X79.

No SLI support on an enthusiast board is just rand.

seems like a cool board, but no SLI=fail for a lot of users.

the fans on all these boards means (to me at least) that these s are hot. they arent putting them on there for kicks. or to needlessly add price. there is a reason.

Considering it doesnt offer much over the chipsets on 1155 that's worrying.

My thoughts as well, people don't complicate things for the sake of it. That most of the high end boards we see do have fans across all the makers hints to these things being furnaces.

Its already been explained I think. Features were cut from the X79 that would have made it hotter. The original spec from Intel probably indicated they would need one, and developing these products takes time.

So by the time they learn the fan is not needed, its already too far down the development pipeline.

Sapphire Pure Black (with blue and hints of red, so not quite pure, but sounds cooler) X79

That's just plain dumb making a board with that many PCI-E slots and not supporting SLI.

You are right running 6 / 8 core CPU is not much over a 4 core CPU, except maybe a 100%+ speed boost.

well then they need to put the features back on. i plan on pouring water over my next mobo anyway, so i dont care if its hot. where is my dedicated 4 lane sas connection? very irritating.

Makes me rather angry. X79 is going to cost considerably more the Z68, and as a chipset it offers almost nothing more besides more ram bandwidth, which doesn't do a whole lot.

Let's wait to see the workstation boards then. So far all we've seen is general consumer and gamer, neither of those terms scream "high end" when it comes to storage solutions. Wait till the boards get cranked out for people that do need a lot of SATA ports and a better product.

A small minority of people WC the board so it is a problem. And again, let's wait and see what work station class boards have to offer. So far most of the boards we've seen either fall into "gamer extreme OC, lolz it has bling" and "average desktop" how many people in those groups use SAS or have crap tons of HDDs?

Looks kinda bland, and having no SLI support is disappointing.

I have a feeling the X79's are going to get a bad rap once they are out in full force. i.e. its going to be a sh!t product cycle.
