That heatsink is almost as bad as the Gigabyte Sniper. But otherwise the board looks amazing. Hopefully we'll see a good acetal block from EK. Although it is XL-ATX which is going to put off most people.

It's hard to not feel a tool buying a motherboard with a heatsink like that. Needs to stop happening. If it looked more professional I'd consider it.

    ...

The only explanation for this and the assasin board is that too much radiation from Fukushima has reached Taiwan, causing the minds of the designers to mutate, reverse in age and cause them to think like 13 year olds. It's what makes the most sense right now to me...

Im not sure what kind of research MB companies are doing to come up with these stupid HS ideas. They either have a research panel of 10 years olds or they do no research at all.

I don't mind the actual layout and military look of the board. It's just something else to simply look at. I just wonder how the south bridge will cool. A lot of the boards have fans.

One thing I thought was interesting was the included firewire port. You just never see that anymore.
    You must [not] advance.

no not all boards have fans. The thing about the fans is said to be left over from earlier production possibilities. With the extra SAS and connection that were supposed to be on the PCH, like ht extra 4X up-link to the CPU, IDk if that is still there but i think they scrapped it when they did SAS. Those extra features would increase the TDP a bit so it would require a fan. Now that those were removed recently enough, most manufacturer's didn't bother to pull the fan.
