    Gigabyte GTX570 SOC Overclocking

First post so please go easy on me..

My Gigabyte GTX570 SOC arrived earlier this morning and I'm having somewhat of a nightmare trying to overclock it.

Out of the box settings -

Even if I change the Memory clock from 950 (1900) to 1000 (2000) it results in Windows telling me the display driver stopped responding and has recovered. If I change the core clock of shader clock even slightly then 3DMark11 crashes and reports an error. On a few occasions the PC has restarted.

The rest of my system spec is in my sig and I'm using an Enermax Galaxy 850w PSU. The GPU temps seem perfectly fine, 28c idle and 58c under full load.

I just can't work out why the slightest increase in clocks results in failure.

    Any tips and/or advice?

Edit - As my sig isn't displaying here are my system specs -

I just got the same video card yesterday and I was have so many problems overclocking it.

I used 285.66 275.33 and 275.50 and all had the same problem.

I would load wow or bf3 and after a few minutes it would crash.

This morning I upped the voltage on the core to 1.08v just one notch on the OCguru program that came with it and changed the core and memory to 900/1000 i played wow for about 20 minute and bf3 for 20 minutes. So far so good.

I think if you have the voltage on auto its set too low.

The temps on the card are very good, I didn't see it go past 56C during game play.

GIGABYTE's GTX 570 SOC (GV-N570SO-13I) features a default core clock of 845 MHz (732 MHz reference) and memory running at 1900 MHz (3800 MHz effective). Overclocking allowed us to increase the core to 990 MHz and memory to 2350 MHz (4700 MHz effective) without any memory voltage adjustments. For consistency we continued to use MSI's Afterburner software even though it didn't allow memory voltage adjustments like GIGABYTE's OC Guru did. So while more performance may be available via higher memory clocks, we chose not to push the voltages as memory can be fairly sensitive to voltage increases.

I did not get the same result at all, I couldnt get a stable core OC without voltage increase.

    Hi DeCan,

    Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately I can't even run 3DMark11 or Heaven Benchmark at stock clocks anymore let alone even try and overclock it.

I did a quick video to show the problem I'm now encountering. Does it look similar to the issue you were having?

    Download 2 things
    1) http://download.gigabyte.ru/utility/...easy_boost.exe I'm pretty sure this is the OC Guru one
    2) http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/

    Steps to do
    ==================================================

    1) Uninstall your nvidia drivers from control panel
    2) reboot in to save mode
    3) run driver sweeper and clear all NVidia drivers
    4) restart your computer
    5) install new drivers (I am using 285.66)
    6) Load OC Guru and turn the voltage to 1.1 (this should be more then safe enough, my temps are only 56C when running games)

Try everything and see how you go, once you dont get any errors then try overclocking.

I wasnt stable until i upped the voltage one notch after that i was stable.

Good luck dude let me know how you go.

    Thanks Decan.

That Easy Boost looks similar to OC Guru but I can't see any voltage options anywhere.

I'll go and uninstall the drivers following your steps and report back shortly.

I couldn't see any voltage options in Easy Boost so I downloaded OC Guru which does show a voltage option.

However that itself presents another problem. As you can see from my screenshot even if I move the voltage slider all the way to the right it only goes up to 1.057 and then proceeds to bounce up and down. I can't seem to be able to set it to exactly 1.1 ?!?

OC Guru is the right one. Just see how that goes, seems that your card was a bit lower of voltage. Hopeful you will find it better now.

    Thanks DeCan.

I've bumped up the voltage to 1.12 and it seems to have done the trick. Not only can I run 3DMark11 and Heaven Benchmark at stock speeds I've also been able to start clocking it even further.

That's as far as I've got today. I'll carry on tomorrow.

I would consider sending the card back for replacement. You shouldn't be crashing at stock clocks.

Nice work, I am running my card at 950/1100 right now and I haven't tried pushing it anymore than that because i;m happy with that speed. Card runs very cool too 56C in games.

My card did crash in BF3 running at 950/1100, turned it down to 920/1100 and haven't had a crash since. Temps are 56C, I don't see it go past that.
