FX 6100 Oh torture me ,yes its wierd and spooky and clocks up ta 5000mhz no prob.

Well i was looking for a 4100 with no luck . I was shure Fry's or Central would have one but no.... I settled on 6100 from microcenteter..

In all aspects this thread is not gonna show how insane it benches or how slow it can go lol. I stepped up to the plate and thought i would try the new tech. I actually like this little fella. Its fun and will mature.

My Biggest gripe about any BD chips is that not one Mobo has a great Bios. My 990FXA UD5 is horrid with F6 bios . no unlock or disable core feature and almost all the multi and ht settings are useless. I didnt think i would hit 5G's this qiuck with the shoddy Bios at hand. As i see more mature Bioses for this Mobo i will post my findings. For now im Dialing voltages and seeing what this chip likes and dont like.

Bioses are holding these things way back.

Danger(Thin ice) ,, i think this when i change a setting in the dang Bios. Its so touchy ,you can almost not set anything custom. I mean ram dividers, ht, FSB, you name it.

Gigabyte Makes me down a 6pack and a few shots just to press (del) !

    FX6100 5000mhz

    SuperPi
    5000mhz no shocker here..

    My 555 for giggles X2
    SuperPi at 4300mhz

One advantage i do see is with high clock speed ,it can come in handy for gaming fps. The more i play with this FX6100 the more i get hooked in wanting to get the thing faster.

Good job. So far it's looking like all the different core variants will clock up to 5GHz.

As far as the high clock speed and gaming FPS, it's easier said than done, getting it to run stable. But try it out, see what the 6x can do.

So you will settle for which daily clocks ? 4.6-4.7Ghz ?
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Just waiting for a better bios ..
This UD5 mobo is in no shape to super clock with out a great Bios .Even at 5000mhz with 1.61vcore.. nbvid is at 1.25v..i have yet to really push things.

Still no LLC control for massive vdip , No Turbo Disable or CNQ Disable that works correctly.

I have to do the AOD ON/OFF disable Turbo trick .

I waant the CORE unlock Module option to work. I set UNLOCK for core options ans no options come up in Bios Menu to disable Core units ...

Well im still trying to get Turbo fully disabled ,
even using AOD it kicks back on eventually.

so far its still at 5000mhz and throttles to 1700 for low power i think CnQ is not disabling ..

Break out the soldering iron if thats a rev 1.0 board man, they can't fix it via bios, needs a hardware change for LLC.

    Rev 1.1 has this implemented.

Not shure if this Mobo is working to 100%.

    FX6100 @ 3300mhz VS FX6100 @ 5000mhz both on UD5

    This rreally has me stumped.
interesting im @16x HT with HTT2500... My CPU Scores decent but Xfire isnt. its like im running one card and Xfire is working @ 16x 16x but seems like 8x..so wierd.

I bought one to play with myself for the heck of doing so. I've not taken a swing at 5.0GHz and 4.6GHz @ 1.45 is easy. I'm on air and am a bit concerned about trying higher. I may though.

I have pushed AMD's from day one. Every chip i have touched has been clocked at one time or another.
From a (Athlon 500mhz to Tbird to present day. You could say im a AMD junky. I will always push thier tin.

The 990FXA UD5 has many bugs for a mobo designed for the FX's.
I have to push the Volts on this Mobo @1.6v to get my intial 1.54v for 5000mhz under load and benching performance.
The way i torture them is kinda like art . With thermal paste i do each and evey chip the same. The real fun is when im bringing temps up with slow voltage under prime . I simply go to where it cant take anymore and then back it down to clock it up.
After i do my intial first runs i already know where these chips will live or Die.

I have never killed one using High volts, maybe cracked a few sili's to death doing pure IHSlessness Overclocking

BD is very tweakable ,Simply need good Bioses and thers room for improvement, i shall find it muhaha

Maybe try a different htt and cpu multi. somtimes they can cause that issue ...at least on giga boards it can

look close , see something wierd haha i believe this is the problem why these chips run a little slow, they get confused.

    Great job gOtVoltage!
I'm following this thread since day one. Shame Giga again failed UD5 customers. Anyway great you can squeeze that 5GHz regardless of mobo problems!
Finding sweet spot takes some time, and dialing in all the knobs on BD is a fun challenge for sure Wonder what your 24/7 clocks will be.

Waiting on better Bios.. So far its still at 5000mhz... i want the dang unlock option to work! This way i could tweak it properly. Im tempted to grab another Mobo to play with. Most of them seem like there not up to speed or have options enabled to enlighten me. Its still fun tweaking though . More Results to come just been busy and no time to tweak lately.

Just popped in my 6100, equally disgusted with the bios. What is the AOD on/off trick you are using to disable C&Q?

Mine hit 5ghz easy, but I didn't work on prime stable. Trying to work on stability at 4.75 but stupid C&Q is still messing with things, it only seems to be running full throttle half the time. Temps are low 50's at 1.45ish volts (actual).

Wishing i had waited and bought a different board....

Might have to Volt mod this one. For now ill Man up and tweak it.

    As far as AOD ,
Its under Clock/Voltages and Click Turbo mode (enable it )click apply and then OK,,go back and disable and click apply and OK.

This will enable all cores at your max set speed.
I runn all my benches this way and it works.. Its just a pain.

The Current Bios keeps CnQ enabled and i keep CPU core Boost On , The good thing is you can run @ 5000mhz with it on all day
I want seperate core option for unlock and lock with out CnQ enabled ... thats all.

I rally like Gigabyte but this revision 1 is fn borked. Ill keep tweaking it as long as i see Bios updates. I am tempted to get another Mobo with working core option if this dosnt pan out with Unlock or core control in the near future.

5+ghz on Air, ambient was 22•C
runs most windows apps except benchmarks(@4.8ghz all ok)

tried to run CB11.5 but the temp rose to 60•c then all stop, i guess I need a better cooling

    Cool

Still need a better Bios but im happy playing

New CPUz and Pushing the limits of this chip on water is amusing

    Cinebench is gettin better
...I still nave no core disable so this is Still all Cores@5200mhz with 2600nb and a 1.70vcore with 1.3v cpuvid.

I remeber someone posting how 1.3vid chips are great clockers. Indeed they are.

    using BIOS F6D

So far .5000mhz seems to be a sweet spot, 5200mhz is max validation
